Anyone find a trigger for the amps on the stock 6 disk deck? I also used the loc(line out converters) with marginal sound quality. Will be opening deck up to find the line level signals going to the amp on the circuit board. Hopefully I will be successful with the surgery.
I will try and get some pics of the inside of the unit.

If the patient dies on the table, that will be a good excuse to buy a new HU.
Yes, I have a Alpine 7995 with pac/steering adapter waiting but dont want to loose the stock look. Believe me it would be so much easier. That deck has everything.
Is it "under the knife" or under the soldering gun?

No, there is not an amp remote power turn on wire for the midline non fosgate/'non external amp' 6 disk in dash. I had to wire mine up to the red wire off the Scosche terminals, so it's 'power on with ignition' for my amp. Which is fine, I always have the radio on. I used the two Scoshe terminals, NN03 and NN03RB, back to back, so to avoid cutting the stock harness at all. The NN03RB I recieved did not have a dimmer wire on it, so I had to add a wire to it.
An easier way than breaking into the radio would just be to run a trigger line to a switch. A remote turn on doesn't draw that much power, wouldn't even need a relay.
I also used a Navone NE-774V for the speaker level to rca level converter. I have the gain on the amp at less than 1/4, and the Navone full up, and the sound is loud and clear, no distortion or alternator whine at all. The amp is a Phoenix Gold Octane-R, a cheap $200 amp, so I'm sure it would be more than happy to amplifiy whatever noisey signal I send to it. But the sound is great.
I liked the Navone because it can be adjusted to a max of 9.5 volts, pretty high.
The set up brought this crappy stock radio to life. I think I'll keep the stock headunit now, so I can keep the SSV, 6 disk in dash, and theft avoidance.
The UI-4 LOC from www.altomobile.com is supposed to ship in January. It has an adjustable remote on feature (with delays to prevent pops) that turns the amp(s) on based upon detection of a signal level in the speaker outs from the HU.
Also, you can buy a low voltage solid state switch, like a relay, except it will turn on at less than 1 volt.

That one says .8V and I think the one by Peripheral is about .5V.
Keep in mind that I had 5 volts out of the speaker outputs. I checked it a few times and im sure. At least on mine it is. So it stays switched on at all times. I'm real close to finding the line level outputs. I found a switched power source however it caused the amps to thump when turned off. Turned off ok when it was hooked to the acc line.

he has the non rf deck--no amp--so he gets the 6 cd but also a stong preout on the speaker lines. there in lies the difference. as on the rf system with the amp nissan thought it was smart to make the HU a non signal unit
Yes 5v off or on. Keep in mindthat this is without the 2 ohm oem load.
Well just got out of the OR . Seems to be a sucses, well at least with the pre outs. Sound is very clean. Will update later. Need to go to sleep. Will post some pics later.
BTW I opened up a nissan RF amp from my old 02 Frontier. Guess what it say on the inside? Rockford corp.... Go figure... At least we know the amp is made by rockford.
And my favorite...

Impressive! What voltages are you getting on your new pre-outs?
No voltage at mute. I did not test preamp voltage because I had the CD section disconnected. If not I could of had a steady tone burnt on a cd to check voltage @ high volume. Hey it was also late. I have no engine wine or static now. With the LOC’s I had a his with the volume low and had a distorted mid bass sound from any thing below 120 hz or so. What was weird is that I had it crossed @ 150hz and it still distorted on the low notes. I think it had something to do with that constant voltage I found or maybe the 2 ohm load was enough to “short”out the 5 volts? I don’t know. But at least I feel I got the cleanest source from the stock deck. Was it worth it? Well all it cost me was some time and beer. Wife still thinks im nuts, oh well.
BTW this snap dash is the pits!

Sorry for kicking this thread up from the dead.... but has anyone accomplished this feat? It sounds like the perfect solution to the "buzz" problems for amps. I want to do it because I love my 6-disc in-dash changer and I don't want to use line-level converters.

Yeah I've got lotsa questions about this as well. It seems that he did get it work and it worked good, but a followup would be great. Also, I see that he is only pulling 2 channels off the board? Can all four be pulled?? Also, bestatchess had said that if this is done a line driver may be needed? I would love to do this too if it will be better than a LOC.
There was chat about this Here
and Here
lol, just realized the second thread was yours.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the photo actually shows the 4 channels. They ground is seldom run to 4 spots on the board... or at least I remember discussing this in an electronics class.
