anyone with LE take out RF HU and put in aftermarket? side effects?

Looking to buy an LE in the next week.

I read one post that someone took out their RF unit from an LE, and that their memory function on the seats no longer works.

I would assume that happened as a cause of something else, but i would like to confirm before i make my purchase

Has anyone removed a RF system from an LE and had side effects?

thanks

I replaced the RF HU in my LE one week after purchase. There were no side effect problems of that action, however, in the course of removing the bezel I had unplugged the dash air bag indicator light while the ignition switch was on. This caused the air bag warning light to go into alarm once everything had been reconnected. I reset the alarm using the proceedure described elsewhere on this site and have had not that problem since.

Seat memory loss or malfunction should in no way be connected with removing the HU. On a couple of occasions the seat memory in my LE has "forgotten" where it should be, but I reposition the seat and it "remembers" the position after that (until it forgets again - had to reset twice in 6 months).

thanks, thats what i assumed

now i just realised the 05 LE comes with "Brushed Aluminum-look Accents"

And the XE doesnt, so my center dash will be plain plastic, while everything else looks like brushed aluminum....i guess thats a small price to pay.

I could probably get a shop somewhere to make a custom cover or one of those dash kits that stick on. Anyone have any recommendations for this now>?

thanks

I've noticed that when I disconnect the battery and then reconnect it the seat memory is gone. But after I reset the position everything works fine. Maybe that is what that other person was referring to?
