My roommate just completed the install of the Kenwood DDX 7015 into the dash of my titan. He did an amazing job. The gaps or very close and it looks factory. I am super pleased!!!
Check it out. He did a great job. It looks very stock.
I love that headunit, I've been wanting to get one since I had my Jetta VR6. I'm glad to see that it looks so good in the Titan. I'll definitely have to consider it once my checkbook recovers from buying the truck
Why did you just not buy the new Bezel from Courtesy. Would have saved you/your friend a ton of work. Now you are going to have to find a new factory bezel for when you get rid of the truck.

Tell me you at least used a new wiring hardness!

Actually, It was not much work at all. It was copleted in a single night. He was a manager of a car audio shop for about 7 years where he completed alot of custom installs. IF you follow the link I posted earlier and look at the other 7 pages you will see his ride and the custom work he did to it. It is very easy to go down to my local nissan dealer and get a new factory bezel.
Man, that's nice! How did he match the paint so well? I've been thinking about using the aftermarket bezel and molding in a single-din Alpine so I don't have to use the pocket that comes with the metra kit.
I was not able to find a double din face plate where I was located. The metra kits look cheap and crappy. I did not know about the courtsey face plat until the work had already begun. I like this better than those because it is a litlle different.
I bought a rattle can of paint from a local automotive paint supply house. I will post the manufacture and code number when I get to the houes today. The cap looks a little darkers so you just have to be careful to just use several thin coats.

I'd like to know that myself. Always good info to know.
As for different, I'm hearing ya....have ya seen my posts?
Hummm. I'm getting that unit installed Saturday. I already have a double din factory unit and I assumed all Titans did... Am I missing something? Do I have to get a different faceplate??
SEM makes the paint, and I got it at a local body shop supply house. The code is 39253, medium titanium metallic, but it's listed as a bumper coat rather than an interior dye. I would recommend using a good filler primer, like the dupli color stuff, over the bondo, at least that's the way that he got it to the color that you see. The primer has some texture to it, so he wet sanded it, then went over it with another coat, then the final color.

Those with a double din radio have the base model Titan..

It depends, metra makes a kit, but the local stores didn't have one in stock, and he said it would be just as easy to modify the stock piece to get it to look good, and he knew that he would modify either kit as well to get rid of the gaps. Besides, he used some tricks to get it to sit in the dash a little different, so that it's almost flush with the face in the closed position. A little bondo, some ABS, and some sanding, lather, rinse and repeat as necessary... I think it looks awesome, and went in fairly quickly.
