Question About Drilling Through Firewall

I know this has been covered in detail, and I've read all of the posts. I am planning to drill through the passenger side and use a grommet for 0 gauge. I remember seeing the picture of the N on the rubber underneath the carpet, but I looked today and there's no N??? Doesn't really matter though, because I can tell where the location is, just right of the A/C return (at least I think that's what it is). Anyway, my question is this: What's the best way to access the hole from the engine side? Did you guys have to remove something in the engine that gave you more clearance to the hole? Also, were you guys able to remove that rubber foam or just peel it up? I didn't see a way to remove it.

peel the foam up, (ou have to remove the RHS kick panel cover first)

the N is on the foam not the firewall by the way

before you drill make sure you clear the ac line on the opposite side in the engine bay. get a small ladder adn just lean into the engine bay and you will be able to reach it. to secure your grommet

be carfeul not to knock the radiator cap off as theya re very loose

Id highly recommend you buy a unibit drill and a 18v drill as this combo makes life a lot easier

Smoke, the foam in my truck doesn't have the 'N'. Not sure why, but like I said it doesn't matter. I know what you mean about the AC line on the opposite side so I'm pretty sure I'm in the right location. I was thinking about using a hole saw. Do you think that would work?

it may work, but all I know is that I started with a regular 1/4" titanium drill and while it went through it took forever. I bought a unibit off ebay to make the hole bigger ( I was originally using 4ga wire) and bam it went right through in 2 seconds 1" wide

Well I might give the hole saw a try since I already have it. Those unibits are expensive! I guess because they work so well.
