Too late for navigation?

Hey do yall think I could get the factory Navigation installed in my 04' Titan from the dealer? I would assume the truck is already prewired for it because the foglights are already prewired. How much would this run me for?

Good news and bad news.

Bad news is that you cannot add it. Well you can but it will cost you WAY too much money.

Good news is that you can get that faceplate that has room for the double-din unit and get yourself a kick-*** aftermarket navi system for around the same price.

I have the nav but would not get it again. I would go aftermarket. Nissans nav needs A LOT of work.

Get a Garmin hand-held and stick it to the dash with velcro

I was looking at buying the Garmin Quest now I am looking at the new one made by Lowrance. It has a 20 gig hard drive and half of that is used to store MP3's.

you're lucky....on the 05 LE i want to get, if i get the OR and BT packages, i have to get either navi or dvd.

DVD is more useless for me, so i ordered it with navi....i was planning on changing the headunit etc, but now maybe i'll just get a 5 channel amp and some nicer speakers and sub. Or who knows, i may just gut the whole thing, and get a screen put in the stock place AND keep the navi screen. May be able to do multiple source then.hehehe

Either way, i didnt want the navi, but had to get it.

I bought the Garmin IQue 3600 and it's great. It is built into a palm handheld so you can do many functions with it. MP3, voice notes etc. At $500 it was one quarter of the built in cost and works flawlessly as well as can go from car to car as well as keeping your life organized. You can't do that with the factory unit.

It needs help. If you want to see the best NAV IMHO, check out the Accord's, or even better the new Acura, which is just like the accord but it can download traffic reports and has Zagat's restaurant reviews and understands some ridiculous amount of voice commands.....this is what I miss the most from my Honda.

My brother has the accord with the Navi and my parents Lexus has a decent one also. They are nice navi's with some cool features. I never claimed Nissan has the best Navi out there, as I have said in other posts regarding Nissan's navi system, its not the best out there and not the best deal. However, for my needs, I absolutely love it. It has taken me to all of my destinations without any problems and I love the stock unit because it is integrated with everything else and looks nice. I simply do not want to hassle with an after market setup. For those who want to buy the best out there and take apart their dash to route wires and to accommodate their new display, that’s great. It just all comes down to personal preference, I prefer the stock unit.

I think the newest navigation systems incorporated satellite radio so that current road conditions can be posted within seconds

There are varying grades of navigation systems, both factory and after market, that can be good or bad. Personally I like the factory Nissan Navi. Of course it could be better, but it has not failed to get me where I want yet! The Honda Navi is a step up I agree, but the bottom line is they pretty much do the same thing. As for after market it's a mixed bag too. Right now I think (my opinion) the Alpine Navi is the best one out there, not surprisingly it's also one of the more expensive. Just last week my buddy put the AVIC-N1 Pioneer unit in his F150. Although it is a very nice unit, my first impression was it didn't seem as accurate as my factory unit is...could be it needs a software update? A hand held could also be a good choice. Personally I like the integration of the factory unit, but a hand held you can move from car to car has a good plus side. The Garmin, Magellan, and the Tom Tom all seem to be nice units. But as far as the original post I would look to an after market, it would be too expensive to get the factory unit installed now.

I have a acura mdx with touchscreen nav. It is a very good unit made by alpine. I had to get the update dvd from them thru acura. Also had a 2004 mercedes cd nav unit , it was pretty bad. The birds eye view of the nissan is excellent, but data input is a bit cantankerous, acuras is better. Overall its pretty good.

Just this weekend it charted what would have otherwise been a 40mile ride into a 97mile ride using the "quickest route"

Some of the routes this thing plans are just outrageous. Don't get me wrong, it is still pretty functional, and at worst you have a $2K map, but when it works, which in all fairness is most of the time, it works well.

I have a Garmin 2620. Invaluable in MHO. Sits well in the dash cutout area. Easy choice : Nissan Nav $2200 approx Garmin Streetpilot 2620 $850. Being a realtor showing property in 6 different counties surrounding Charlotte, this is a must have tool for me. Multiple destination input, accuracy averages approx 10 feet, Base maps for the entire US. Transferable to other vehicles!! I plan to get the topo maps and use it in the Jeep for those offroad/off camber excursions.
By the way Garmins customer service is the best I have experienced in a loooong time.
Did I tell you that I like my Garmin unit ????
