good idea,, I have one and installed it
Id recommend buying the resistors that you need from radioshack (47ohm) and 150ohm as the ones that come in the package are hard to determine which ohm they are
Id highly recommed a solder gun, and ground the unit to the brace behind the stereo (not the main support beam)
also the connector pin , is actually the one that connects to the facepalte like a computer ide cable. once you take the faceplate off, then disconnect that white connector that combines it with another cable (wrapped in grey foam). that it the cable with the two wires you will be working with
(I cant remember the colors)
just splice a small amount of the sheilding back and solder directly to the copper on each wire
then solder both 47/150 ends to the white wire
cover it all up with electrical tape your done
I will say that while it works make sure you get a line of sight on the ir sensor, or the signal is a little slow. it works for all intensive purposes, but it is not a quick response if that helps
good luck it takes about 20-30 min to install and program
an be carefull not to drill your hole to big

to get the sensor through wherever you decide to mount it, like I did
