Need CD help

I have the factory 6 CD changer and with commercial prerecorded CD's it works fine. When I record my own music, the system has trouble finding tracks beyond #5. I can play the whole CD no problem, but cannot advance it to a certain song. You can hear the unit search but it never finds the track.

Someone suggested putting more time between tracks and I have gone as far as 3 seconds with no luck.

Any of you audio types have a suggestion?

Thanks...

its your cd burner, or your cdrs

although I never had any problem with my cdr music, sometimes certain players cant read homemade disc due to the depth of the pits on the cd media

so I would try and burn a disk with someone elses burner to see if that works, then try a differnt cdr media ( I only use tdk disc from costco)

I bet its the burner though --what brand and how old is it ??
burner quality does decrease over time as the laser intensity gets weaker as it begins to wear out

I use an Iomega Predator and EZ CD Creator Platinum. I have also tried using Media Player ver. 10 AND the software with Itunes.

Agree with smoke, the burner or media probably the problem I have used Ridata blanks for a number of years with excellent results in several players. You could also try burning at a slower speed which also corrects some problems with playback especially if it is an older burner.

BTW, cd burners don't burn pits into the blank media, they just change the color of the dye layer. This is why you should never leave a home produced cd in direct sunlight for an extended period, especially with recorded side up.

ive found that typically certain cd players dont like certain brands of media. just try a different brand of cdr and if you can use a disc verify after burn that might catch an error. also, as mentioned above, try slowing the burn speed down a little.

You might wanna consider ...

Just getting a digital MP3 player ... like the ipod or it's like ....

Setting it in the drink holder and connecting it through the Auxillary port ....

That way ... no "coasters" involved ....

I would suggest a different media, first. Black CD-R's from Memorex have always worked awesome for me. If that doesn't help, either the burner or one of the songs you are burning isn't encoded/ripped properly. I had certain tracks that would f*ck up most audio cd players I had, but not my computer optical drives.

Good luck.

If you haven't tried a different burner do so. Be sure to use the same media and source; this way you can know for sure if it is your burner. I have had no problem with my burned CDs on the six disc unit.

Must be your cd because the majority of my CD's are $3. Meaning they are not from the store. One of my co-workers makes Cd and DVD's ($6) and they play great.
