Question Middle Grade Stereo Tweeters

I have an SE with the middle grade stereo/CD Changer. Has anyone one replaced the small 2" dash speakers with tweeters and if so what did you replace with. Do those speakers have crossover circuit or do they just function as another set of speakers. I am ok with the stereo/CD player but the speakers suck....

you would have to find 4ohm tweeters (the stockers are 20w rms)

no larger than 2.75x2.75 to fit into the dash

also there is no crosover at the amp, the tweets are crossed over by use of a small resistor at the base of the tweeter case
