Alarm Question

I want to install an alarm on my Titan, most likely a Clifford Intelleguard 750/850. Not sure weather I want to tackle it myself or have it professionally installed. Anyway, my question is, can the factory window control (remote windows down) be controlled with the new alarm or must I still install a window up/window down module? Answers and any other Alarm advice is appreciated!

I asked the exact same question is this thread earlier today ....

Any one add Remote Start????

From what I can tell at http://www.directed.com/

The Viper, Clifford, & Python product lines are identical ....

Just a marketing thing ....

if it is not built in, you will need the clifford smart windows or viper 530t module. the stock roll down will be gone if you replace the factory remote.

I agree you need the extra modules, but you wont loose the function if you go with a new remote. Infact you will increase your range over stock. You just need to program the auxilary functions for the system. (this is hard to say since every alarm company does this in a different manner) Also- anyone that owns a clifford alarm, will tell you it is far from a Viper, Python, hornet, etc. I agree some is marketing, but there are drastic differences in quality/features/price between the lines, but all are made by DEI check the website: http://www.directed.com/

I've owned both Vipers & Cliffords and there does seem to be a big difference to me too. The Vipers are decent but seem to be on the basic end of the scale. I had an Intelleguard on my last car. I loved the adjustable omni sensor...that has to be one of the best sensors out there! I also didn't relize that I appreciated the BlackJax car jacking feature until I traded the car. Definately provides some piece of mind with kids in the car. I was also interested in the Matrix responder but it's just a re-badged Viper and not realy an original Clifford product. My friend has one, he likes it but not sure he would do it again...remote is too bulky and goes through a lot of batteries. I know that they are all owned by DEI, but the good thing is DEI didn't really break-up the companies when they bought them out...so some of the products lines still maintain some distinct differences.

i installed a prestige 996a in a titan with remote start and it is a pain in the ***. if you have never installed an alarm before i would seuggest you have someone proffesionaly install it.

dei products are ok but you will get no technical service if you install it yourself. with audiovox you will.

also with the window modules.... one module is for 2 doors so if you want all 4 doors to roll down then you will have to get 2 modules and most likely you will have to wire each door individualy.

also if you plan on doing remote start on it you will need a bypass module for it. with the titan you have to put a key in a box it hide it in the vehicle in the ignition area. and that key will have to stay there.

Unless you have an XE, I believe the XE's dont have the transponder in the key.

almost all new vehicles have a type of passive anti theft built into them.

most car manufacturers like to make aftermarket work to there vehicles more difficult.
