I've installed amps, radios etc, but hard wiring the AUX port has me stumped.
First I cut the ends of the RCA cable and tried to splice them to the AUX behind the face plate. Then and used a 1/8 y cable and put the input of the PIE and ran the spliced RCA to the output of the pie. The sound was horrible. It was muffled and sounded like all the speakers weren't being used. I then took the spliced RCA and twisted the outer ground wires together and grounded them and ran the inner signal wire back to the left and right AUX port. This didn't help.
What is the best way to hardwire to the AUX? And the middle wire on AUX connector is the gound wire right?
check to make sure the 1/8 adapter is ALL the way in the back of the car mount. I did that too and i got sound out of the left side only. i was like WTF!!!!!!!!!! it took me almost 20 minutes to finely find out the 1/8 plug was not fullly inserted!!!!!!!!!!!! also double check that you connected the rca cables to the correct aux wires. it really is simple, but basicly if 1 wire is connected wrong it'll drive you nuts figuring it out.
just to double check, the 1/8 y adapter with rca cables into the PIE (this wire does not need to be cut at all), than a second set of rca cables cut in half. the cut end the inner cables are properly connected and not touching any other wire (even a single errant starnd). the outer ground wires are twisyed together and spliced into the aux ground.
that's it. make sure the amp is set to high or full or max or whatever the little dials do and they both are on high.

Thanks for all the info. I had two things wrong. Like you said it was not plugged in all the way. And I had grounded the ground wires to another source instead of going to the AUX input. I just figured a ground is a ground. It works good now; however I get a hissing sound when I press the gas pedal, I think thats becasue the power and speaker wires are too close??
I'd also like to confirm that I'm doing this correctly before I start. Could someone look at the picture and confirm that this is how I wire the RCA plugs from the PIE to the AUX line. Thanks a lot guys.

looks good on the drawing.
jeostang, i had the same problem, where did you mount the pie amp ground?
i had hissing when i mounteded it to the driver side headuniting mounting screw, for some reason i decided to change that location, I moved the ground of the pie to the passenger side HU mounting screw and the hiss completely disapeared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 try moving the ground wire to various other points and see what happens

I had the ground mounted to the drivers side HU screw also. I just finsihed running the ground wire under the driver side footwell. All is well now. Thanks for all the good info Pugsly. I don't know how I lived without sirius in the past.

Might be a stupid question, but how are you guys getting to the backside of the Aux Port? Does all that radio dash come off somehow? If so, how? I'm trying to figure out how I want to install my Sirius Orbiter.

the bezel just pops off. I put a putty knife (4 in or so wide) bewtten the bezel and the top tray and pull forward with 2 hands bedinfd the knife (this way i'm prying over a 4 or 5 inch area and not scratching or gouging anything. after the top pops off just slide your hand down the side and the bottom pops off. the whole bezel is only help on by pressure mount no screws.
I also unscrew the shifter knob and apply the emergency brake and put the shifter into 4d otherwise ther bezel hits the shifter and gives you less room to work.
