I know this is a litte off,but gimme a break it's an armada with a big $$$
My wife wants to put in a new video system in here QX56. She wants 2 head rest monitors and a flip down screen. Has anyone out there done this mod with
1. just one video source and no video amps
2. Modded the factory flip down spot to accept an after market screen. What size screen did you use. ?
3. Is the wiring harness above the liner? No video from factory bought.
Be careful splitting the video signals without video amps to increase signal.. I split the signal only once for both by headrest monitors and wouldn't do anymore screens without a video amp... If you search you will see picturs of my setup with screens in headrests. I would do screen in the headrests before putting any on the roof, I think headrests just look better not to mention get more looks.. I used 7 inch screens for my setup made by Eigervision.

So would you just do the headrest, I mean if you were to build the system agian.
Do you notice any fuzzness because of the video amp?
I would just do the headrests they look better and draw more attention. I love my headrest monitors the picture is great. I wouldn't dare split it again though without a video amp or I wouldn't have such a sharp picture. Don't skimp on cheap monitors buy a good brand like Eigervision.

If you go in the overhead you'll want to get the new bracket they came out with to support the factory monitor. (if you have a sunroof) I think the bracket is $100+/- though I've been quoted anywhere from $100 to $1200 . The headliner bounces so bad that only my 3 year old can stand watching it. I put a 7" in the existing overhead bin. It turned out great. If I come across a good deal on two more 7" monitor I will add the headrest ones probably. Right now I have one consistent passenger and she's happy with the overhead. Here is a thread that has photo's of a couple different systems

I'm still thinking I need to do a over head, I have all three rows filled. and don't know if the would able to see the headrest in row 3.
The shop I deal with uses the Vizulogic line, any thoughts?
Never used them before. You could post at www.the12volt.com and those guys would tell you if Visualogic is any good. If you have to go overheard make sure they secure it big time to prevent vibrations. 7inch monitors are pretty big should have no trouble with viewing them from third row since people can view mine a car length behind me "lol". Make sure the brand you go with that you can see the screen at angles. The Eigervisions I have are High Def TFT screens..

I have a couple of 5.6" headrest, 7" visor and a 13.3" flipdown. lizard is right, use a video amp to boost signal...I have a 1in/4out video amp and it works great on all 4 monitors. I did the install and had to fabricate a bracket inside the roof using 2x1 wood pieces and L brackets to mount onto the roof beams to hold the hefty 13.3" monitor. Also installed a separate video amp for the PS2. Click on my sig to see my setup. All monitors are from Starvision High res TFT-LCD

Does your visor match the interior or did you cut it into the factory visor?
How's that 13 inch montior? Can you see out the back? When you mounted it above, did you use the factory roof ribs with sheet metal screws to fasten it? looks like somethig I want. Hope your enjoying it.
no sunroof, just a full console. Which is one piece; looks like I will have to have a monitor put in one of the bins,to make it look clean.
I have 6 and 5/8 inches wide. All kinds of room top and bottom, just need to find a cool monitor now. Something real trick, if you have any idea, I'm open to them.
Since you dont have a sunroof, then it is possible to fabricate a wood frame inside and secured onto the roof ribs. Witn the 13" monitor, i removed the rear console completely disabling the rear audio controls. I then used a 14x20 Polyethylene board (a cutting board) to cover the big opening and as a mounting board as well. the wood frame measures about the same as the cuttingboard and i used dry wall screws to mount the board and frame together. as for the visor, i cut the factory visor for the tv. oh yes, im enjoying it a lot. LOL
O/T: LLAJUMPVID: I would like to know if your monitor in the nav dash factory? if so, thats OK. If aftermarket, how did you do it?
