Sub with the least space

I have a question. I am looking for the best sub I can get that fits under the front seats. I know I will be sacrificing sound quality, but I use the almost flat floor too much to throw a box there. I figued I would put two in one under each seat and put the new amp(s) on the back wall.

Back in the day I bought a couple Image Dynamics 10" (IDQ10) subs to put behind the seats of my MR2 (very limited space). I remember them requiring very little airspace, compared to much of the competition, though this was years ago. They might be worth looking into, at least.

edit: looks like the current IDQ10V.2 series can work in a 0.25 - 0.50 cubic ft. sealed enclosure. http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/webs...ducts/idq.html I took a look at JL's selection for comparison, and the smallest sealed enclosure that fits their 10s is starting at .5 cu ft. Their 8s require similar spaces as the image dynamics though, so there's another option.

dude dnt go under the front seat it soudn really bad, I tried three different subs and four diiffernt boxes

the bottom carraige of the seat has no covering on the metal hinges and what not

so when the bass hits it rattles to all heck and sounds pretty annoying --just trying to save you some time and effort, but do a search for shallow or pioneer shallow,

one guy put a shallow pioneer under his front seat and he liked it

I posted the specs in that thread also

if you dont want to lose your under rear seats space, Id recommend tryin to earthauke sws-12 or find some used illusion audio, or phase linear aliante subs and put them behind the rear bench seat on the wall and put your amps under the front seat if need be

the earthquakes are not as good as the latter but can be had for around 150-180 a peice from savingslot.com

but yep those id8, or id10 willwork iyou do decide to go under the seat

the spekaer cant have a mouting depth over 5" believe me I have tried--

Not sure what kind of sound your looking for but mounting under the seat is a tough one.. If I needed space I would probably get a couple Bazooka tubes that I could take out when needed. I would of course gut the Bazooka tube and take out Bazooka sub and put something else in.. Those tubes can really hit hard with right sub!!!

Check out the Planet Audio Neo series their 12's only need 2 3/4 inches of depth and they sound very good.

I was the one that put the pioneer sub under the front seat. Here is the link to some of the pictures. Still to this day I enjoy it and people always ask what I have and where in the hell i put it. LINK

Im going to go with the Memphis M3 10" subwoofer. It is also rebuildable in case of a coil burnout. It can work @ .5 cuft sealed or 1cuft ported. The ported subs will be about 3db louder than sealed. Thats almost a double the volume.

Although, it may be louder, but ported enclosures require more space. In MO titan's case I think a sealed enclosure would be ideal due to lack of space.

Thanks Russell, now I have two choices. Is there a reason you didn't put two in? Was the first just a test? Would two maybe too much bass? Is there such a thing as too much bass?

Mo Titan there is a few reasons for only one. The biggest right now is that I can now have more bass than mids or highs. I have the stock system bottom of the line. My goal is to put a Car Cpu in and run JBL mids and highs and maybe run another sub. Second is that it is enough bass for me I have gone threw the bass head disease. 4 15's in the back of a ford festiva. What was sad back then was my alternator was almost as large as the engine Also I think the passanger airbag sensor would be in the way and I really didnt want to mess around with maybe the sub making it think my passanger was only 10 pounds. Awhile go alot of people on here where having problems back then with the sensors. To much bass well that is the ear of the beholder. Also here is alittle advise Stereo Systems are like a s s h o l e s everyone has one and they all think it smells like roses.

4 15's that must have been crazy!! I can't even imagine how much low end bass that produced. That must have been for pure SPL and not SQ can't imagine that sounding worth a darn when listening to music. LOL
