I have a SE Crew Cab with the basic double din size cd player. Does it have pre-amp outputs that I could use for the Roady? I would like to hard wire it, instead of using the FM modulator. Any advice?
The basic radio does not have an AUX input to connect external equipment such as a Roady. If you keep the stock HU an FM modulator would be required to connect external devices.
Your best option for better sound is to replace the radio and speakers with aftermarket equipment. I do this on every new vehicle I purchase because I have yet to find decent OEM audio equipment. In my LE I replaced the Rockford/Fosgate during the first week of ownership. The 'new' HU and rear speakers came from the vehicle I traded in, the only thing I purchased new was boxes for the rear speakers - total cost $25 for boxes plus miscellaneous wire and connector pins.
Be thankful you bought the basic radio, the Rockford 'system' is about the worst 'premium system' I have ever heard - certainly not worth the $800 or so it costs.
