SWIX IR mounting

Anybody with the SWIX - where did you mount your IR sending light? I have tried two locations so far (Thats two holes in my center console) and didn't have any luck with the first (Mounted in the small plug right above the shifter) the second I have is right between the shifter and cup holders, but it needs to be sitting higher than flush to work, so now I'm looking for ideas. Anybody?

mounted mine right on the metra dash kit, driled a hole on the top right hand corner

rran the small little grommet through and then slid the ir transmitter though

it gets washed outif there is heavy sunlight

so if had it to do again I would mount it on the bottom left hand corner to sheidl it from sunlight more

make sense??

it needs to as close to the deck sensor as possible

whats happening with yours are you programmed it right? is it in mode three??

Yea mine works fine, got it programmed no problem. The only problem I'm having is finding a good place to mount without drilling anymore holes
I was thinking about the front of the center storage console right below the lid, but not sure if drinks, coffee cup etc would get in the way.

Do you have pics of your install?

Hey all,

Quick question....where are the wires for the steering wheel control. Where did you guys get the wire placements from?

I'm not sure I understand the question.
I think what your asking is which wires do you tap into for the controller to hook-up too - if that is the question then they are located behind the factory receiver. The wire harness that you tap into is the one that looks like a computer cable plugged into the side of the factory radio (Depending on which radio you have) I'm not positive about the colors right now but a quick search will yield the answer.
If you need more help I will be glad to help as much as I can, and there are others here that I'm sure will chime in.

I've got mine mounted between the cup holder and the shifter (at gears 1&2). Seems to work well. Cups and that sort do not seem to affect it at all.
