How to Remove Stock Amplifier?

Can anyone give me quick directions for how to remove the stock amplifier? I can see it, but does anyone know how many screws hold it in place? I am going to try to mount my hideaway unit for my aftermarket HU in the same location (after removing the amp).

I think there is more than one amp.

I assume you have the RF system with the amp in the bracket on the firewall.

If you PM me an email address where you can get large attachments, I will email to you a pdf file containing XM receiver install instructions which include detailed instructions for removing the RF amp & bracket. This used to be on the net, but I can't find it now. Maybe somebody else knows where its at now.

leave it alone, it is a a pain in the but, just pull the plug out if need be

are you installing the nissan xm kit or something??

one of the screw extensions (looks a like a silver wire tube, that you can flex to 90 degrees from Home depot) really help with putting it back it

make sure you put the screws back tight or they willwork themselves free, and that metal cage wil rattle while driving

Well, I figured out how to get the amp loose, but it just seemed too much of a pain to try to get it out from under the dash. I was going to install the tuner unit for my Alpine IVA-D901 HU there, but I wasted too much time trying to get the amp out so I left it there and put the tuner under the driver's seat.

I spent every bit of all weekend getting just about everything installed. Just finished about 2:00 am this morning (Monday). Here's what is installed:

Alpine IVA-D901 Mobile Media Station
Alpine Sirius tuner
SWI-X steering wheel controls
Alpine Video Bypass (not quite working yet)
2 sets of MB Quart RCE216 conponent sets
2 Hifonics ZX6000 amps (each one is 150x2)
Hifonics BX1500D amp (1250x1 @ 1.5 ohms)
Stinger 3F capacitor
Stinger fused distribution box w/dig. voltage display

I still have to finish my sub box and install my 2 Audiobahn Alum10Q subs. So far it sounds pretty good. I haven't spent much time tuning it yet since I finished so late. I know... Pics are coming, don't worry!

I'm pretty impressed with them. The mids sound great! The tweeters sound pretty good too, but I think they will sound better once I play with some of the amp and HU settings. Not bad though for $159 per component set.
