KC sub box & amp rack

This is as far as I've got so far. Still need to fiberglass the box & amp tray. This thing will actually be 3 pieces so it can easily be removed if need be. Still waiting on ED KV11.2's, EDi 6000s, and NINe.4.

what are those circles sticking out supposed to simulate? speakers?

i know the holes on the top are for the subs.

looking good though!

i'd leave it as one piece. it will look cleaner, more professional, and be more impressive.

why are you putting components in the box, and not in the doors??

thats very unique--never seen that before

Interesting. It would save running speaker wire through the door boots, etc. Also it would make it easy to return to OEM when you trade the truck.

20" wide, 8.5" in front, 6" in back, 11.25" depth = 0.66 ft^3 with 3/4" MDF
With the corner cut like it is that reduces the volume to 0.65 ft^3.

With recessed cutouts (1/2" deep), the mounting depth is good for 5.5" This can be made more as I left ~1.5" of space under the seat, just increase the front and back height as needed.

Amp rack is 17" wide, 11.25 deep - 3/4"MDF

Thanks for the input. Those circles are for a component speaker set...got to have a way to mount them right? Should look clean after it is glassed.

Wow I like that a lot. I am in the middle of teaching myself fiberglass work as well for my box. I bet that will sound really good, It looks like you have done all the prep work in the right fashion. I would love to have the particulars about product brands you use for your glassing and where you got them. Also any tips and tricks you picked up on. Are you going to use fleece for your first layer?

Now it has ben fleeced

I've made it to the next step...fleecing the box. Not too difficult, but not the easiest since I'm not used to working with fabric. Layed down the resin last night...looks like I'll be doing that again with a different ratio of hardener.

very cool looking.

I tried fiberglassing once and failed ( i tried to just make something out of the blue) but I think if I plan something It might turn out better

I'm working on the detail specs. Most of my designs are laid out in my head then I put them in action. It could take a while, but I'll put something out for everyone.
