Disappointed with XM Radio Programming

I like all kinds of music but just can't find a station or two worth leaving it on.

I have been listening to 11-Nashville, 20-Top 20, 21-Kiss, 22-Mix, 46-Top Tracks, 74-Bluesville (My son Likes 48)

Before I give up and sell it or give it to my son, For those of you that have XM, what stations do you recomend? Maybe I'm just not giving it enough time.

I tend to listen to more classic rock like Aerosmith, Def Lepard, Lynard Skynard, Stevy Ray Vauhn, Clapton, and so on. I also like Kid Rock, Guns & Roses, Sheryl Crow, Black eyed peas, and more groups like that. Some others I like are Alicia Keys, Bonnie Rait, Gretchin Wilson, Tim McGraw.

I don't like my son's type music like Korn, Nine inch nails, and junk like that. No offense to those of you that like that.

I really don't know that much about who sings certain songs, I just know them when I hear them.

I did a lot of research on satellite radio before I purchased the Delphi Skyfi2 system with Car Kit for $69 (Normally about $179) the only catch was I had to commit to 6 months of service = $60. This is a great little unit, I'm just complaining about the programming. Even with the commitment, came out for the better on my investment. I chose XM for the Nascar, the deal I got and Thought the Rock would be comparable, But it appears the Rock is probably much better on Sirius. Should have went by Edmunds Comparison since I am usually in front of the TV when the races are on anyway.

Sirius Users, please tell me about the Rock on Sirius. Of course now Nascar has made a deal with Sirius beginning in '07.

Thanks

I had XM in my Titan and thought it was good - I switched to Sirius when I got the Ram - and like it alot better - I've got a few favorite stations and seldom feel the need to switch because of "inconsistent programming" - Sirius is a $3 dollars a month more and well worth in IMHO. I got lucky in that I have an XM ready Alpine reciever that I had installed in my Titan - I took it out when I traded - and swithed to a Sirius tuner when I installed it in the Ram.

I head XM when it first came out for about 18 months. When I sold my last vehicle, I switched the Titan to Sirius. I listen to the same types of rock music that you listed. In my opinion Sirius offers far better programming then XM in the catagories you mentioned. I can remeber listening to XM and not recognizing a lot of the songs, or never having heard the versions that were played. I think you can give Sirius a try on Dish Network or for free on their website. If you do go with Sirius you won't be sorry. Good luck.

agree with what is stated above have never used XM but i do have sirius and I love it. It is the best I alos listen to those same types of music you listened to and I would there are a lot more of the rock and country heck there is like 6 country channels and like 6 rock channels my favorite would have to be classic rewind but i think it cover both the needs of you and your son the HARD ROCK banging on trash cans style stuff is only 18 through 20 and the rock is like 14-18. I would say that if you live in the country not to get the indoor boombox it WONT work it says to put it near a window i could put it on the roof and still get nothing.

JUST 2CENTS FROM A REDNECK THAT ONLY KNOWS WHAT HE KNOWS ANDD NOT MUCH MORE!!!!

I don't come off of the news channels much....

But I am a little dissapointed that the "Top Tracks" Rock station is so all over the place. A little too wide a variety. Some of it not Rock. Don Mcclean? I mean some of that stuff belongs on the 70's channel. But overall im happy with it. Better than regular radio. I like 70 and 72 also.

Roll on.

They gave me 3 months free because I was going to disconnect since they got rid of Liquid Metal on XM....still waiting for them to get it back on. I loved that station.

I read you can still listen to Liquid Metal online 24/7 but I think there's an extra charge for that.

This is the same reason I installed XM. Although not a Red Sox fan, but a Braves fan. This way when I'm towing to the racetrack on Fridays I can listen to the games and not have to hunt all around the dial for it. Since I've installed my XM I haven't listened to any local radio and have been enjoying it. Don't care about NASCAR, so that's not a big deal losing that. I would like them to get SEC Sports though.

Otherwise I listen to Squizz, BoneYard, Ethel, Fungus, Fred and Raw.

I am a 48 Squizz junkie. I also frequent 140-142 the sport radio channels, 150 Comedy, and the new 175 MLB channel. I got the XM for Christmas and I am not bored of if yet. I only check local radio anymore for traffic conditions.

Geez, you, huey, any more WERA guys on here?

BTW, I installed a spiffy new MyFi in my house last night, and I'm not at all impressed with the Rock programming.... I'm considering trying to return it.

Yeah, but I had mine Titan before Huey. I don't think Skippy is on here. I'm pretty sure there are some other WERA folks lurking around.

I've had both XM and Sirius, but am a Sirius loyalist. To be fair, I thought XM had some good programming on Fred, Ethyl, and Lucy. Don't recall the channel numbers, but I'm sure you have a guide somewhere. Like any channel, don't try to judge it in 10 minutes, but give them a fair shake to see if they play anything you like.
