Amp suggestions? Lots of tight spaces

Hi guys, Im new to the forum and new to the Titan. Actually I won't be getting my titan for two more weeks (waiting for taxes to come back).
Im doing some pre-planning on the stereo for it.

What I will be getting is a CC LE 4wd. Which means I get the "fantastic" RF sound system So I am going to have to gut that.

What I have planned so far.
Fold out LCD in the dash
LCD in the drop down overhead (like factory)
Xbox under the seat
Earthquake sws-10 mounted in a shallow box behind the back seat (rear seats must fold up)
Alpine type R 6.5 components in front and rear doors
Xbox underneath passengers seat, hopefully it will stack on HUs brain box?

Only thing I need now is amps. I have about 10x11" left on the back wall for one amp (mono for sub) and the underneath of the drivers seat for another amp (4 channel)

I see the new alpines would fit in both spots but there not out yet and when they do come out they will be expensive for a while.

Any suggestions of QUALITY amps that dont have a large footprint, I need a 200w mono, and a 75x4 (about)

OR has anybody tried mounting amps to the underneath of the rear seats? so when you fold up the seats the amps go up with them? If so I would greatly appreciate pictures.

Here is my current system in my car

Thanks in advance

Mounting amp(s) to the bottom of the rear seats is not a good idea from a heat transfer perspective.

Potential alternatives:

1. Since you have apparently made the SQ sacrificing decision to go with a shallow sub to avoid having sub(s) under the rear seats, you might put a shallow sub under the driver's seat. There is a detailed thread with photos on this topic showing how to make a box for that. That would free up the rear cab wall for both amps.

2. If you don't have the factory NAV, you might put amps under both the driver's and passenger seats. The HU brain box might go in place of the factory RF amp and the X-box in the center console.

3. If you remove the factory RF amp and bracket, you might be able to mount a smallish amp in its place (up under the driver's side dash on the firewall).

From some info i gathered on this forum, most people do not like the sub under the seat, apartently the seat rattles quite a bit with a sub underneath it.
That was an option I was considering until I came across several posts from people not satisfied with the sub under the seat.

I read the thread with the instructions on how to remove the RF amp, and that looks like quite the project. Stereos I can do but Im not comfortable with removing the pedal assembly.

When you say the xbox can go in the center console, where are you refering too? Once the center console is removed is there much space under there?

I think I would have enough room if I can find some smaller amps for the sub and components underneath the one seat.

Any more suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

The rear cab wall on the new CC don't permit the mounting of amps. I believe the new power window takes up a lot of room. The place to mount amps for 05s is under the rear seat. Amps could be mounted back there but they would have to be really small.

So there is alot less room between the rear cab wall and the seats in the '05?

You can mount amps under the seats or the back wall as bestatchess mentioned. You need to be very careful where you mount your amp to ensure proper airflow.. If you search you will see pictures of alot of our setups might give you ideas..

I should have said I am getting an 04, not an 05.

The local dealerships are clearancing the 04s out.

I would recommend US Amps. Their mono amps are really small for the power output. The DE-500 will do 250x1 at 4-ohms and is about 8" x 9" x 2.5". Also, they have 4-channel amps for the components, but they're a little bigger. The 4300x does 75x4 at 4-ohms and measures about 9" x 14" x 2.5". Check them out at www.usamps.com.

Thanks Ill check them out? Do you use them personally? What do you think of there power ratings? Are they pretty accurate or along the lines of rockford and sony (where they claim triple what they really are)?

if you are going SWS man do yourself a favor and get the 12" version

(all of them dont really sound like articulate subs) but the 12 is more of a sub sound
if you had the chance to see or pick one up you could really tell the difference

that 10 just burps out vibration--lol

Ive heard the 8, 10, and 12 there was a cheap set on ebay last week for 175 each

never hear done but you may wnat to check this one out

http://www.aespeakers.com/phpbb2/vie...hp?p=1441#1441

or this

http://www.altomobile.com/html/falstaff.html

never heard these--just options

I think your best bet though is to mount the amps on the wall, and put subs under the rear seats save yout time and effort--lol

and if you must go alpine I get the spx-177r set of ebay--much better crossover/tweeter/midrange

and Id recomend you out the xbox under the dirvers eat as the space below the passenger seat is really tight with the airbag weight sensors

the xbox will fit in the center consol also (if you arent using it for a dvd player)

You mean just drop the xbox into the pocket of the center console? I guess I never considered that. I'll have to think about that but I dont think I really like that idea. That center console space is fantastic, I dont want to lose it.

Does any one have the dimensions of the center console handy? If there is room left over in there to store stuff then I might give it more consideration.

I can't put the subs under the rear seats, rear seats folding up being one of the main reasons I chose a Titan over everything else.

As for the alpine speakers my reasons for that is personal preference, I have done about every model infinity has, several JBLs and about 3 pair of bostons in the past. The alpine type Rs that I currently have in my car have sounded the best to me. I like bright highs and a pronounced crunch of a guitar.

Does anyone here have the sub under the drivers seat? how does it sound really? are there any rattles? I would rather have a ****ty sounding sub that doesnt rattle than a great sounding sub that I cant hear because of a friggin rattle.

Yes, I do use them personally. I use the 400x to power my CDT components and it is one of the best amps I've ever owned. They do their rated power and then some. I've heard the DE-500 putting out 700+ watts at 2-ohms when benched. I believe all their ratings are all at 12 Volts, whereas most systems will actually run at around 13-14 volts.

On my most recent test drive I took a really close look at how I was going to do my stereo and yes, there is a buldge where the rear power window is located. Needless to say I was disappointed to see this as I was planning to mount my two amps and cap back there. I would say that the best place to put the amps now is under the rear seat.

However, despite the problems it causes for stereo installation, the rear power window is cool.

Damn I can't wait.....
