I have been considering modifying my grille, especially the big hole in the bumper, but I don't particularly like billet grilles. I haven't come up with any alternatives. Anybody got a suggestion, or a recommendation?
I've been trying to imagine what it would look like if you took the existing grill and painted it some color - like say red or yellow. Trying to imagine what it would look like with a black Titan. I don't really like the chrome grill inserts (billet) - to me, they kinda clash with the beefy existing chrome on the grill. But aside from black, would another color look good ...

I think that the stock grill will always look like a stock grill. the diamond-shaped holes are just too big and look like cheap plastic. Spray paint would just make it look like you were lookin' to race a Civic.

Ha. Well the "looking to race a Civic" look isn't exactly Titan-worthy. A different colored grill insert (not a modified stock one) is still an interesting thought/alternative to the billet grill. I haven't seen many inserts that weren't chrome/billet, but surely there are other alternatives (I saw a black alternative on grillcraft.com ... but nothing really new there).

Reason: typo
I purchased some expanded aluminum mesh from Lowes. Cut out the plastic diamonds and replaced it with the mesh painted black.
For the lower I used a stronger square mesh.
I updated the pic. Sorry, that's the best I could do. I have to take it back apart this weekend to repaint it, so I'll take pics to show you how I modified the grill and mounted the mesh.
I painted it with flat back spray paint (kind of a rush-and-forget-about-it job). It got a lot of salt/rock spray on it this winter and chipped some of the paint. Maybe I'll redo it with some more 'open' mesh and powder coat it this spring, but for now, just a couple more coats of rattle-can.
The only downside is being able to clearly see the horn, latch, and stickers behind the grill. I'm going to try and move the horn more to the left to try and clean up the look a bit more.
Here's a couple better pics. I have in-process pics if anyone wants. The mesh looks gray because of the flash, but it's flat black.
I moved the horn to behind the bumper to clean it up too.
There is a member here, Dunder23, who makes some nice grills. I really like this one because it looks like the stock setup, but dressed in a tux instead of black jeans:

Thanks for the post of pics -- nice looking job. Since you offered, in-process pics would be nice, especially attachment for the lower grill.
Also, thanks to those who provided links and leads -- several good choices out there. And I don't want to race a Civic!! (great comment!)
