A-pillars

Hey Guys,

Have any of you pulled off the covers for the A-Pillars with the airbags inside? I wanted to mount some tweeters on them but didnt know if you can remove them easily.

Thanks,
Chad

Word of advice

I would not install anything in that area! I work on cars for a living (Autobody tech). I would think that would be an unsafe spot if you were to crash. Did you ever see an airbag explode? It may turn your tweeter into a grenade! Seriously advise you look to put it somewhere else.

I did think about that. I was just curious if anyone else had done it. I will probably mount them in the stock speaker location in the dash, they just sound so much better up there. Ohh well.

Thanks,
Chad

Yeah, Nissan's air bags have blinded people in their stock condition. You probably don't want to add shrapnel to the equation.

air bags

How do you know where you have airbags? I have an se and so I know I have them in the stearing wheel and passenger side, but the owners manual just says, "if you have this option." Does it have the airbag logo in each spot?

Only if you got the side curtain airbag option.

The only thing I put inside the A pillar was wiring to run my strobe lights and those were pushed under the edge up by the windshield. I wouldn't put anything else in there for the reason stated above.

Sticker on window

When you bought the truck the sticker you took off the window should tell you....but I would not go by that anyway since mine lied and said I had smaller rims and tires, and I don't. Usually on an airbag system they have a little emblem molded into the plastic that say's airbag, or "ABS".

The airbag is above the handle on the a-pillar. I'm not sure how much of the a-pillar cover blows away when the airbag is activated, but I would guess that if you put your tweeters low on the a-pillar cover it would probably work out ok. Just my uneducated opinion, so I'm probably wrong.

Maybe!

It may work! Or It may not! I just would not want to be siting near it if they were to go off! I've seen passenger airbags rip the dashboards cover open way to far breaking the windsheild!
