Sometimes you have to use multiple ports to get correct tuning. If done correctly you have to use the correct size and LENGTH for the tuning frequency you are trying to achieve. It may have been the case of 1 single port needed x length that could not be achievable with a single port. If for instance a 4" port needed a 24" length to tune at 30Hz, he would have to put an elbow onto the tubing inside the box which may not be practical. However if he used 2 - 3" ports they may only need to be 10" long to achieve the same tuning and would not require the more complex elbow inside the box. It all just depends on what works best for the speakers, the box design, and the frequency you are tuning to.

The only negative with using 3" ports is that beer cans don't fit quite as well into them when you get pulled over

Thanks. Volume is 2.1 cu ft..You can use one or 2 ports or as many as you like. I used 3" ports which is the minimum for this setup. Otherwise you'll get port noise. I didn't want to go bigger because it will eat up volume and I needed every bit. Also, you need to make sure the port is atleast 3" from the wall.

I also rounded over the top edges so when I cover it in vinyl it will look more finished.

Dman,
You are correct on this.

Pyramid blue!! JK. I have some XLC woofers that I never used. I'll make use of them temporarily until I find a suitable replacement. If I don't like them I might put my Audiomobile/TC sounds 10's in instead. BTW, what happened to Audiomobile...again?

Sub Box Completion

Here are some pics of the completed box. I used a charcoal colored vinyl and carpet underlayed with some foam.

Thanks, yeah that's the foam. I'm working on the grills right now. It will be vinyl wrapped baffles with grey grill cloth.
