Is that HU a JVC KD-AR5500? I've never had any experience with JVC car audio, but those new ones have some cool features and look pretty good. So how satisfied are you with yours, or have you even got a chance to try it out yet?

Can't you change the display color to match the Titan's instrument lights?

Audiomobile....

Audiomobile went out of buisness unfortumatley.....I have a 12" MASS and am putting it in my Titan when I get it. Best sub I have ever owned, loud and accurate, the way a sub should be.

M95, nice job so far!

Sandbag,
It's a Ar5000 I believe. It was on sale for $270. You can change the color to any. I have it temporarily hooked up to some Infinity coax. It's got a touch screen feature which is cool.

Thanks. Audiomobile used to make high end amps back in the 80's and went under. The second coming of it was just the name and not the same company, but I never knew what happened to them. Their subs (TC Sounds) were awesome during it's time.

I really like the clean look of that radio face.... what to do, what to do. I actually noticed on ebay that you can get the 5500 for close to that price. Have you tried matching the display color to the Titan's oragne? If so, how'd it look?

The match is perfect. What's even better is the little buttons are red. So it's just like factory orange and red. There is I think 6 or 8 preset colors or you can create your own. One of the preset colors matched. I also have an Alpine 7995 and I like the JVC better.

Just noticed the price on the AR5500 on Ebay. I say go for it.

I think I've decided to. I was planning on keeping the RF oem HU, but it's going to be a good deal of work to get it to get a decent signal out to my amps. My main reason was I wanted to keep the steering wheel controls and the factory look. I really didn't want an aftermarket HU with blue lights, just wouldn't look right. I know it's a minor detail, but something I wanted. I can use that PAC IR steering wheel controller to get my oem buttons to work with it I suppose. I guess the benifits of an aftermarket HU just outweigh those of the OEM. I can deal without the 6-disc changer, as I hardly every switch out the CDs since I have an MP3 player. Another nice feature would be the aux input should work far better on that JVC than the RF. Oh hell, talked myself into it.

This project will never be finished.

You could also play the MP3s on a memory card and load it on the deck. I was in your situation regarding the factory HU and color of the lights as well. The factory HU is definitely the weak link.

Yeah I noticed that feature too, not a real big selling point, but a niffty thing none the less. It only comes with an 8mb card, which would only be good for a couple songs, but I suppose it would be cool to upgrade to a 256mb card and just compile playlists. That would sure be easier than burning CDs, but that's what my iriver 40gig player is for. Well I went a head and got the HU. I noticed that one of the sellers was the same ebayer I purchased my component 6.5s from, and he was very good as far as communication goes, guess that sealed the deal. Now I just have to figure out how to wire that PAC SWI-x up.
