Red face Installing SkyFi2

I just purchased a new Delphi SkyFi2 and want to install it myself. I mounted the receiver to the little round cover just to the left of the climate controls. I used the adjustable mount that came with the unit so I could position it the way I want, all I did was use my dremel tool to cut the mounting pad down to the correct round size of the cover. I am planning on installing a PIE amp to boost the aux level so that I can wire it that way, for now I will use it with the fm modulator. My question is, when those of you who have ran the antenna wire through the third brake light, did you have to apply any silicone on or around the antenna so that no water would leak in the truck. I am guessing that when you run the wire under the brake light gasket or seal, you will undoubtedly create a gap of some proportion. How did you all remedy this? Did you have the wire exit at the top of the seal or the bottom and then just route the wire to the roof? I just want to know what to expect. If you did apply silicone, what kind did you use and did rough the surface of the paint any before applying. Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

I installed an XM several months ago, and ran through the third brake light. Did not use any extra sealant, and have had no problems with leaking. The wire is very small, and actually compresses a bit when you tighten the light back down. I ran it out the front of the light about a quarter of an inch. The seal on the light is pretty beefy too. I wouldn.t worry about it. FYI, I just recieved a letter about XM raising their monthly price to $12.99, but, now this includes the online access to music. Kinda cool for us at work and stuff. If you pay a year in advance, its only $9.99.

I didn't use any silicone. The brake light has a very good seal around it, and it conformed to the wire itself.
Using a PIE is one way to go, I had a friend splice into the Aux line for me. The Roady2 has an adjustable volume output. Loud but maybe not loud enough for some.

I had a MyFi XM portable installed in the truck the other day. I really dont know how they hooked up the power, but the "line out" runs down through the middle (inside) the radio console and creeps out right next to the auxilliary jack and plugs right in. That way I get a direct digital connection and I can unplug it if I need to use it for something else like an Ipod. I swear if I get any more gadgety, the Gadget police are gonna arrest me! Love that XM though...
