Need idea on lengths of 1/0 gauge for stereo/engine upgrades

What lengths of wires did everyone use to do the following, or if you would check how much would be required as I am planning for a April Titan SE CC purchase:

1. Battery to rear seat (+)
2. Battery to alternator (+)
3. Battery to starter (+)
4. Battery to chassis ground (-)
5. Engine block ground (-)
6. Any other factory grounds that need replaced.

I am trying to get an idea on how much 1/0 gauge I am going to need because at $2.25/ft it isn't exactly cheap and I don't want to have extra laying around.

I usually order more than I need. It will cost you more if you end up being short. It's not a difficult thing to measure how much wire you need. Do you have a tape measure? Or use string then measure it after. You need to know where you're gonna go through the firewall and exact placement of amps before you place an order for wire.

i)) 16 ft to be safe fro main power line
ii) no more than 6 ft--if I remembr correctly for the chasis to battery/chasis to engine grounds
iii)Amp ground I used 5 ft to give me some play in the rack installation

iv)you dont need to do the starter

v)and it is about 10 ft EACH or so to do the alternator positive and negative
please note that it is darnnear impossible to reach the alternator pos/neg as it is deep in the engine bay on the passenger side right behind the fron tire well

just make sure you OVER plan your wire purchase to save on shipping

if you are buying from knu (like I did) order direct form the website order one 1 ga amp kit to get most of the wire, then add the remaining amount to your order --this will save you some bukcs. then add all you ring terminals, speaker wire, distro blocks etc etc and ship at ONE TIME as the wire is very heavy and can cost you if you dont use theri bulk shipping rate

and for a shameless plug I have one of these for sale

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...rodID=FB-1024D

$30 shipped

and two of these for the grounds

http://www.lightningaudio.com/2004/p...asp?prodID=137

$10 each

for sale if you need any of them for you install

AND DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR and spend $20 bucks and buy some 1/0 ga wire cutters from home depot it will save you a ton of time cutting the wire and keeping its shape so it goes into your distro blocks/terminals better

good luck and ask away if you have any other questions

and if you are buying a 05 make sure you go to the dealer and look behind the back seat ( I checked it out last week--not much space due to new retractabl window) as they redesigned that area so it may not be the easist to mounte amps on the rear wall like on the 04's so you may need less wire than what I used or more if

Thanks for your experiences.....The Titan will be the sixth vehicle that I have self-installed a stereo so I consider myself an experienced DIYer. I already have some heavy duty all purpose cutters, so much easier.

I have looked at the 05s in depth and noticed the zero room for my RF800a4, RF500a2, 40farad CAP, etc behind the rear seat But the rear power window is awesome

So I have decided to build a amp/cap rack under the rear seat. My 12" sub (which I cannot part with) will sit on top of that box on the drivers side and will be easily removable when the extra space is needed. With the new Titan I decided to get all new Knuconceptz wiring and terminals, Streetwires Zero Noise 3 RCAs, Streetwires firewall bushing, and Stinger 150 Amp circuit breaker. Am also planning on getting two sets of Polk Momo 6.5" seperates to compliment my 12" and about 200 sf of 70 mil sound deadening.

Anymore people with wire lengths?

M95 and Sammy Sandbag, I seen your installs so far with the sound deadening. How much did you use for each door, floor, roof, rear wall. Was hoping 200 sf of 70 mil would be enough, but have a feeling it will take more like 300. Anybody Let me know.

I'd say 18' for your power wire, as I purchased 16 and it's damn close. As for the mat, I can't really tell you how much, because I have only finished the front doors. I bought 200sq ft and it came in four 50sq ft rolls. One roll was plenty for the driver door and about 25% of the passenger door. Hopefully I'll have enough after the rear doors to do the back wall and rear floor. I'll be sure to post more info once I get further along.
