Front Door Baffles

Hey guys,

I see a lot of you have made custom baffles out of 3/4" MDF for putting new comps in the front doors. I will be replacing my front speakers with a 6.5" comp set. The problem I have is that I dont have the tools or space to make the baffles myself. (apartment living sux) Anyway, I was curious if one of you would be willing to make me a set? I'd pay for them of course.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Chad

just buy a 20-30 dollar jigsaw from home depot, 1 18v power drill $40 off ebay or so a $20 drill set. $5 in screws and bolts

and save your cash on a tool that you can use for something else

it doesnt have to be pretty just functional

just trace the bottom of the stock black face plate, and then cutout your speakers cutout diameter and

drill three holes to mount it and you are done

you can do it in the driveway of your stall gotta install it somewhere right?

but if it is that serious tell me the speakers you are using,

pay for the shipping and wood and Ill make them for you

I purchased a nice cheap Jig saw from Home depot for 12.99. It’s not the most fancy one, but it gets the job done. You can also purchase a sheet of MDF while you a picking up the jig saw. You will be out of there for less than $50 and have plenty of wood to practice a ton.

They could knock them out pretty quickly at a local cabinet shop, or perhaps if your local high school has a wood shop. They come out a little nicer if cut with a router & circle jig.

I made a set for my tacoma from 6x8 - 6.5's but I got to do it at a friends house. He has moved away since. He had all the nice tools.

I'm bummed. I have some MDF at home that was leftover I thought it was 3/4 but its only 5/8.... has anyone tried to use 5/8s if so, how did it work, what depth speaker did you fit in? I'm looking at getting the CDT EF's with the carbon cone. I'll have to lookup the mounting depth at home.

5x8 will work fine

you have about 2.25" depth measuring from the window to the metal of the door panel

another 1.25" from the metal to the door panel--to make sure that the speaker does not hit the door panel

my current baffles are 3/4" + 1/2" screwed together and my mids are 3 5/8 deep so you have more than enough room for almost any speaker in the titan

and note this is for a 7" overall diameter speaker

The specs say that the woofer is 2.75" deep. I shouldnt have a problem with the 5/8's. But maybe I'll do what you did and screw 2 together or go buy some 1" mdf. I just didnt want to buy a whole sheet and throw most of it away!!
I'm surprised there is enough room between the speaker and the speaker grill (door skin) in my tacoma I had to trim some plastic behind the speaker grill so that it wouldnt rub on the speaker surround.

smoke- I just noticed you said your woofers were 3 5/8's deep... what are they, that seems really deep for a 7" woofer.

What did you do with your HD's?? I've heard those have more midbass than the ef series, they are just a bit more than i wanted to spend.

newtitan

i did a review of them over on elite car audio, under XXX mid

RE is cool as a company there XXX subs are nice, and the XXX mids are very nice

thats about all I woudl run from them at this point

there are other options in the sam price range that make better use of the xbl2 tech (like adire or ascendant audio)

I sold the hd's

they are cool, just not my the best for me--some folks love them I only liked them. theey need POWER!!!! so 200W at least to get teh most out of the mid, and the tweet was just okay to me
