Indash aftermarket headunit with factory Navi

Well here are some pics that I was going to put up a while ago and lost my pw. I forgot who I promissed them for so hopefully they see this. The last pic has a monitor in the back also, but its too dark to see. I will post more later if you want.

Where do the monitors in the headrests receive their power?

They are powered by the Clarion switcher thats under the passenger seat. I ran wires through the seats and the head rest polls are hollow, so I ran them up the polls and drilled a hole in the pole to pull them through. The switcher controls 3 montors. So I have 2 xboxes, iPod & aux jack for them.

Did you loose any funtionality of the factory nav unit or the HVAC/trip information? Very nice looking.

Ahh, now I remeber the issue with doing this myself, you don't have the factory DVD system do you?

Correct. Aftermarket DVD also. But I still have full functional trip & hvac control. That was actually a lot of work to do. The Navi and radio switches are mounted on the same board. So the original board is still in the dash way in the back and I ran wires from each switch & l.e.d. up to the navi switches on the front panel that you see there. Took about a week to figure everything out.

Yeah,
Thats the way mine is now also. I know Clarion came out with a controler for iPod but not sure if it will work with the 935. I will check on that in the next few days and get back to you. Whats a pie amp? I have 2 Rockford T8004's running the highs & mids and a T20001 running 3 JL 12w3's. Did you get the DSP with the 935 also? I love the Dolby Digital but wish I had more control over delay and the EQ section. I cant believe the Q goes up to 20. The highest you'd ever want to go is 7 or so. And thats pushing it. Anything above that usually sounds fake. Also, you'd think we should have delay on individual speakers. Not Front Pair, Rear Pair & center. Well centers by it self but I'd like to try to put delay on the front left and and maybe invert it with a different highpass. I need more control you know!? I will try to investigate that iPod controler and get back to you though.

yeah I saw the new ipod controller for like the 755 or something but I didnt see one listed for ours. a pie amp is a device people use to hook their ipods into the factory system and it amplifies it to almost cd loudness

Ohh because the AUX jack not being sensitive enough. Interesting. I had that problem with my factory system also. Funny they made something to fix that. My iPod clips my 935 sometimes the way I have it hooked up now. I even have sound check on but that still does not fix it. Helps alot but does not fix it. Its a nice way to blow speakers I'll tell ya what!

Sure,
I took the switch bezel off, and went out and got another one. Took the bezel I just got and cut it in half so I'd have just the navi switches. Then ran wires & soldered each L.E.D. and switch from the factory switch bezel to the new one. Then I had to sand all the components off the switch plate I just cut up. Then I put some fine speaker cloth over the outer trim bezel and coted it with resin. I beleive I put about 6 to 8 coats of resin on it. Then I measured up where the 1din would go and I cut out my hole. Little more sanding and resin and I had myself a dash trim. Then primed and painted it. Next time I have my dash apart I can take a pic of the harness I made to go from the new to old switch bezel. The cool thing about keeping the old swtich bezel is you can tap into your steering wheel control switches and wire them up as well. If you try to wire steering wheel controls you CONNOT get them from the back of the radio/or a plug from the back of the stock radio. They have to come from the harness connected to the switch bezel. Let me know if you want to attempt this and I can guide you through it.
