I've got a real tight budget and almost no current knowledge of aftermarket audio systems. So I thought I'd see what advice I could get on the best bang for my buck from you experts.
If you had just $500 to spend to upgrade the stock sound system (basic 6 disk changer) in a Titan and limited installation experience what components would you recommend?

After Purchase mods - Chrome Nerf bars (ebay), Factory Fog Light Kit, Lund color matched bugshield, Debadged, Trenz upper Grill, Custom lower Grill by Dunder23
I also have done the same for #502.00 from crutchfield.com here is the linkhttps://www.crutchfield.com/S-DJyddnXo7WT/scgi-bin/wishlist.asp I went thru the procedure of ordering all this but the SONY 6mo no % no pay credit card booted me out. I never went back to find out yet.

I would recommend saving some more $.
If you have to blow the $500 now, I would either get satellite radio or get an LOC, amp & sub. Maybe 11KV2 sub + Nine 2 amp from www.edesignaudio.com
For $500 you can get a good system, at least it will be vastly superior to 'stock'. Start with a double DIN bezel for $40, a mounting kit for $15, Pioneer 3700 HU - $150, set of 6x9s plus boxes for rear - $100. That comes to about $300. For $100 more you can get an XM radio that works with the Pioneer and you have not yet exceeded your $500 budget.
Will this system blow the doors off the vehicle setting next to you in the turning lane? Absolutely not! But, one does not need 1000 watts of amplifier power and multiple 12 inch speakers to get good quality sound.
Thanks for the advice so far everyone. Especially those who have offered advice on spending the budget on minor upgrades instead of saving more up. I'm not really looking to make my sound system World Class ever, just wanted it to be a little bit better than what I have now.
Also I just thought of something as I was shopping crutchfield...How do I wire a new system into the steering wheel controls? Is that even possible?

Here is a link to the pac-swix on Crutchfiled that will allow you to continue to use your steering wheel controls. It can probably be found cheaper if you search around on the web.
On a side note, If anyone reading this know's what all the steering whell controls contain and where they can be purchased seperately let me know. I have an SE that originally came with the single CD double din headunit and no steering wheel controls. I'd like to eventually add them (if it's possible) along with the pac-swix.
