suitable alternatives to dynamat...

How 'bout aluminum foil and duct tape?

or a 4" thick coating of Krylon spray paint -high temperature kind

maybe sawdust and glue?

Let me know if I've been helpful! Have a good April Fool's Day.

Fatmat.com I used 70 sq feet on floor and back wall.

I used fatmat in doors 45 ml thick one layer on outer skin and second layer replacing the plactic sheet behind door panels. Also have for roof but haven't had time to do it yet.

I used their Rattle trap 105 ml thick on floor and back wall.

PS if your doing this by yourself it's a big job and 2-3 days work.

Most all instructions on panel and consol removal are on TT do a search.

Disconnect your battery before you start or you'll set off several codes.

I'm using Raamatt. It's day 2 and I'm just too slow.

I finally have the rear doors dampened and now working on the fronts. The fronts are huge. I've doubled up on the mat for the front cause I have RE XXX 6.5 going in there. Also I have Ensolite foam that I'm covering the entire truck for acoustical damping.

Be careful that the cable that loops around at the door latch is secured. I brought down my rear windows and the left back door came open. I hadn't gotten it back into the upper clip and the window caught it coming down. After I closed the door I couldn't open it so I had to re-remove the door panel with it closed. Luck I was only going slow when it happened and a block from the house.

thanks Greg W for the tip. I already sealed the doors but will test it before I put the panels back on.

Titan_3nE I paid $89 a roll of 62.5 sq ft. I never tried Fatmat but Raamatt is very popular on the car audio forums. It's very comparable to Dynamat Extreme from what others say. I've never used dynamate. I have 2 rolls and a ton of ensolite foam. I bought a roll of aluminum sheeting (called flashing) to cover the larger holes of the door panels so the mat has something to stick too instead of just open air. Takes me longer to cut but worthwhile.

I'll be taking out the seats maybe tomorrow.

How are you attaching the flashing to the door panels?

I had the same idea of using the flashing, but instead I just put two layers, one with the sticking side facing inside and one facing outside. The two layers stick together and a fairly rigid.
