How do you remove the center channel speaker?

Looking at it, the top half moon shape grille should be removable. But after removing the stereo fascia, it seems to be part of the dash. How do you remove this half moon shaped peice? (or get to the center channel!)

I want to mount a pod similar to this in the same spot....

Is there no way to remove/replace that peice outlined in red (to drill into it for mounting) without the whole front of the dash with it?
