New head unit with stock speakers.

Will this work. I am interested in replacing my radio with an aftermarket one. Will it sound like crap by using the stock speakers. How about the subwoofer? I currently have the RF 6 disk headunit with the 10 speaker setup.

You would be much better off first investing in amplification for everything that is stock. The head unit will do very little (at this point) to make you feel any better about your situation.

Whatever it sounds like will not be a lot better. When replacing the RF HU it is necessary to abandon/wire around the external amp used with that HU. Why? because the inadequacies of that amp is the main reason the RF system sounds so whimpy. The existing speakers have great difficulty (expecially the rear ones) dealing with a HU/amp that can deliver a decent amount of power. If you crank the level up on the new HU the existing speakers "disappear" after a certain volume level, that is, beyond that point an increase in volume setting does not result in an increase in sound from the speakers.
If you want something that sounds reasonably good plan on replacing both the HU and the speakers.
If you do a seach on this forum, there is a wealth of info on what and how to and a number of different approaches to fixing the sound system.

I replaced my RF HU with the Kenwood DDX-7015. I was able to connect it to the factory amp. I found a product by PAC called OEM-2. It is a line output converter BUT it also has low level speaker outputs for connecting an aftermarket HU to a factory amp. You can find them eBay for about $20. It works well and sounds good...as good as the stock speakers powered by the stock amp can sound.
