XM Radio question

I am thinking of having the Nissan XM Radio installed in my 2004 CC LE with NAV system. My question; Does the Nissan XM Radio display through the NAV system like the FM radio does? Sorry, I'm a novice at this.

Yes, if you use the Nissan (Clarion) XM receiver.

If you do not have a column shifter, here is the easiest install:

Just to clarify, you say that the XM will show in the NAV display as long as I use the factory OEM unit?

Yes, and the steering wheel controls will work with the factory XM also. The display is, unfortunately truncated. So, for example, the entire artist name may not show up if it is long.

Factory XM has the advantage of integration with display & controls.

Other aftermarket XM receivers have better displays in the unit itself and also a lower price. Those can be connected through the AUX jack, but won't use the NAV display, and won't use the steering wheel controls. There has been discussion about splicing into the factory NBUS harness with an aftermarket XM receiver, but I don't recall any posts where anyone actually did that with success. Also, I have not seen any adapters that would enable you to plug an aftermarket XM receiver into Nissan's NBUS harness. Also, I don't know whether there is something unique to Nissan's XM receiver (Clarion) with respect to interface with the Nissan head unit (i.e. firmware) that would preclude interface with other brands of XM receivers through the NBUS harness.

It's all there, you just have to turn the tuning knob to show the rest. Why they didn't just program the radio to scroll through all that automatically is anyone's guess. Maybe they felt it would be a distraction to the driver?
