Anyone that has bought components off eBay please share your experience!

What has everyones experiences been from buying compnents off of Ebay sellers. I am considering buying Polk Momo components from a seller for $200 shipped but little or no warranty. I could buy them off Sounddomain for $300 shipped and get a three year warranty.

What does everyone think I should do?????

It depends on your particular situation. I personally dont like the idea of buying speakers from an individual off EBAY. You never know what kind of abuse they have been put through before they decided to sell them. Granted there are tons of respectable sellers who sell items legit and with no problems. I have bought lots of items from EBAY with no problems at all. If it were me and I had the money I would go ahead and spend the xtra 100 to get the brand new with warranty.

I like to buy used locally so I can test. the good thing about speakers is that it's either working good or is crappy. They're not like cars that have intermittent problems. That's usually the case.

The reason I buy used is that I hate paying full price. Now if I find a deal for new I will buy it too. It's sometimes a gamble though.

sooo if you can afford the higher price, that's my recommendation.

I would be buying new at either place, guess I should have specified. I have also had more good than bad experiences on eBay. I was just hoping that someone on here bought there component on eBay and would share there experience and....if it was a good experience give me there eBay ID.

Just remember everything is subjective. I am a pack rat and as such I have this bad habit of keeping boxes and manuals for just about everything I buy. My point, is that I can take something that is very used, but clean it up, stick it back in the box, and sell it on EBAY as new. Chances are you wouldnt know the difference.
I'm not trying to knock what you are trying to buy. Check the sellers history and look at positive vs negative feedback. Also send the seller an email. If they respond timely chances are they will stay in communication if you have problems. If they dont, still doesnt mean it's a bad sell. But you have to weigh the reward vs the risk. Also you state the set on Ebay doesnt come with the warranty, but the store bought does. Why the difference? If both are new the original mfg should warranty whichever set you buy. Unless the ebay set is a factory second or a recondition set.

Those Diamond Audio Hex can be found on Ebay for around $300.00 also, give and take shipping. ...remember, you did not hear this from me. I also saw a beautiful Diamond D3400.4 amp too.

These Diamond Hex ahh yeah, I have them, S600s. They sound so friggin good, people ask me what speakers they are, but make sure you have a good amp to power them cleanly too. With the Diamond crossover that comes with the Hex, you can use a good 2 channel amp, and it will power your front speakers, tweeters, and rear speakers (RAF). The Rear Fill(RAF) on the crossover can be attenuated either -5 or -10db. I have it at -10db in my max's ageless cabin.

When it comes to spekers off ebay be carefull. Sometimes you get a deal other times you get burned. I have purchased a total of probably 5 or 6 full systems off ebay throughout the years for both my friends and I. I have bought a couple of component sets but I try to stick to new speakers unless it is a great deal. I equate buying used speakers to buying used break pads or used car parts.

I did have a bad experience buying RF speakers off ebay. Neither was RF(just a sticker put on the back) and one was blown. Needless to say, that user is no longer registered due to fraud, but I never got my money back.
My suggestion: If it sounds too good to be true, then...................!

Buy from a place where you can take it back to.

I have purchased numerous audio components off of eBay with great success. If you use common sense (don't buy the ones that will not guarantee not to be dead on arrival) you should be fine. If you are willing to pay a few extra dollars; you can purchase brand new speaker with full manufactures warranties. Don't get caught up in paying a middle man plus the mark up (IE Best Buy, Ultimate Electronics, Crutchfield, ect). I just got a set of the Polk DB tweeters (with out the crossover or woofer) for $15 shipped. They are used but in great shape and sound crystal clear. These retail for around 75-100 so I think that they were a smoking deal. While they dont have any type of warranty, I am willing to assume some risk.

I bought all my components and amps off of ebay stores. The first place I tried buying from never sent any tracking info, I followed up and found out they were out of stock and they refunded my money, not a big deal. I eventually got two pairs of Infinity Kappa 6.5's from the same seller for much less than retail. I also got my head unit from the same seller. I don't think he sells Polk, so no help there. I got my mono amp from a different seller, no problems. I also got my 12 disc changer from another seller as well, once again no problems. I ended up saving a good deal of money over buying from an actual store or some place like Cardomain or Crutchfield (although I did get my sub from them out of their scratch and dent section for $100 less than listed and not a thing wrong with it.)

I buy and sell speakers, car audio stuff in general on ebay all the time

stick to folks with 95% feedback and only use a credit card through paypal and youll be fine

make sure you read someones feedback and check their feedback FROM BUYERS and look at what they sold before

you win some and you lose some

its online buying it always comes with some sort of risk

I've Got Lots Of Stuff Off Ebay. Including 3 Different Head Decks From 3 Different Sellers. I've Never Had A Problem, Just Make Sure You Read Everything. Sometimes The Sellers Try To Trick You. I've Heard Of People Getting Screwed And Loosing There Money, But Hasn't Happend To Me Yet. "knock On Wood"
