I wanted to hide my V1 so I wouldn't have to take it down like I have for the past 12 years on my old one. It's up high on the windshield and from the front and sides on the outside you can't see it. when I park I drop the visor and you can't see it at all. I have 20% front tinted windows so that helps a lot.
I wired the ignition from the front upper console and ran it down the a-pillar and up the steering column to the gauge cluster where I have the concealed display. When driving straight I can see the display direction and the main detector is high enough that it can get really loud even w/ music on.

Doesn't the tint cut into the V1's sensetivity? I read somewhere that tint can cut range.
I've seen the cops around w/ radar and it seems to be pretty sensitive. I get lots of front end alerts. that's compared to my 12 year old model. Now for laser Valentine says the bare windshield alone can hurt it but it says some tint bands have no effect. Laser is very hard to detect and avoid vs. radar and in So Cal hopefully they won't use it as often.
3. Avoid putting your detector behind the tint band at the top, unless you're sure it has no effect. We found major losses due to the tint on some cars, and no additional losses on others.

Just an opinion, but that doesnt seem that concealed to me. However, if you really cant see the detector when the visor is down than good job. You know better than me. I assume the detector sends a signal to the little display box? That looks like a sweet radar detector.
That small box on the dash is what lights up vs. the actual detector. It conceals the lights so people/cops don't notice that you are using a detector. This way too all the cords are hidden and no need to plug into the cigaretta adapter.
Since it's at the tint band, you can't see it at all. With the visor down it can't be seen from any angle unless you totally stare for it.
Some pros have taken them apart to really hide them but I don't have the skills to do that.
V1 is considered one of the best radar detectors out there. It's a very good investment even though you may not be an aggressive driver.
