Backup Camera Display questions.

I am looking at mounting a LCD display conected to a backup camera in the front dash shelf of my LE CC with the RF package, but no nav. I was wondering if there is a easy way to mount it and to make it look stock. I saw some people use the nav piece that has the vents in it. My question is how much for that trim piece and where to buy the components for the backup camera. I want the camera in the lift gate, I also want it to be able to be used as a monitor for my DVD. Any suggestions would be great.

There have been quite a few peoples have got the factory navigation bezel (part number 682577S500) and install a monitor there. It look very factory. I belive here's one link but there are a few more, just search.
Navigation bezel

Also if you get a monitor with dual RCA inputs, you can have one hook up to camera and the other hook up to DVD player. This is probably my next mod. when I get some times.

If you want both the RF and some aftermarket functions, I would consider a carputer, normally I wouldn't reccomend it because I have done a few of them in the past and they are very awkward to use. But if you do the touchscreen, and computer might be what you want.

Thanks for the part number. I was thinking about a modified X box instead of the carputer, but the wife is watching this one very carefully since the arrival of our twin boys. Where does everyone buy there screens and cameras and stuff?

You can check with Ebay first, I've seen back up cameras with night vision for about $50 or without nightvision for as low as $10. Screens are everywhere, I picked up all my screen locally, seems about same price as on line. I'm have with PS2 with 160 GB hard drive (if I can get it to work) it would be great.

Also just to throw it out there, if you are looking to change out your system there are a few double dine head units that have a rear view camera and dvd preouts on them as well as touch screen functions. Just a thought. With the open face plate you can get from courtesy parts, it will look almost stock. I am going to go with the Kenwood when I get the ducks myself.

There are a lot of things you can do for this, the cleanest way is to mount it like others, in the navi console. For multi-funcionality, you will need a TV with multiple Video inputs, or if not, you will need a video source switcher to control various Video units. If you change out the head unit deck to one like one of the new kenwoods for example you can control multiple video sources off the unit itself.

another alternative, that i have never seen anywhere but in a car catalogue, is a rear view mirror with a screen built in. Im thinking about this route 'cause it would allow me my aftermarket touch screen to be saved for my music stuff, while still using the camera while im on the road and not just while backing. I know it sounds redundant, but i travel a lot with high loads, and cant see with the mirror anyway... just something to consider.

That's what I'm looking in to. Not cheap.
