Overhead temp. and compass display in SE

I recently bought a 2005 SE that did not come with the overhead display. I was wondering if it was possible to put a factory display in my Titan? Do other SE's come with this?

Since none of the above posts really addressed your question at all...

I believe it was only Bench Seat models that came with the display. This same panel has the homelink and an entire row of storage compartments. I wouldn't be suprised if the wiring harness for the electronics are already up there, but you would definitely have to cut your headliner to install the entire console.

I have a 2005 SE with captains chairs (Popular package) and mine came with the whole works as well. I am sure you could add it, but is it worth it? Also, I have seen rear view mirrors that have all that stuff you desire as well (aftermarket).

Ok I looked it up, comes with the SE popular package in either Bench or Captains chairs. So I would imagine you only have to replace that one panel with the screen and homelink on it. Again I'm sure there is a harness up there but it would be in your best interest to pull your center console down and look for one. I know that seems like a lot of work however I believe it's only a few screws.

it is 5 screws/bolts holding it in. 1 bolt in the front sunglass holder, 2 screws in the middle, and 2 bolts near the back. they are not visible unless you open the compartments overhead.

Do you have the mirror w/the homelink/temp/compass?

Mine is an 04, Bench, Popular and it came with the mirror, but no the overhead... (the harness from the mirror is obviously coming from the headliner in front of the console.)

Re: Overhead temp. and compass display in SE

So have we decided that there IS or ISN'T a harness already there for the compass display? I have an '05 SE and it didn't come with the compass display.

Re: Overhead temp. and compass display in SE

I just bought the auto dimming mirror with the compass and temp display, since it came w/out that too. Pretty easy install and I bet it's alot cheaper.

Re: Overhead temp. and compass display in SE

I did this in mine, and it's a lot harder than you can imagine.

The Harness is up there, but it is incomplete, it will have the right clip, but about 1/2 the wires are missing.

You have to run these wires yourself,

1 wire goes to the back of the SpeedoCluster, this is for the compass to work,
It's a super PAIN to pull off, and if Nissan sees this they will give you a lot of hell if they see this back there. It's really dumb that you have to do this, but otherwise the compass doesn't work. Even though the sensor is contained within the unit, it apparently updates itself somewhat based on wheel spin differences between the two front wheels.

second item you have to wire an additional power wire to the fuse box, there will not be the correct fuse set up already for this, you will have to use a fuse tap

third thing is the temp sensor, you will have to buy a seperate temp sensor from Nissan and mount it under the hood, I believe it goes near the front grill. Yes you already have a temp sensor, but the one for the overhead temp sensor display is different. You will have to run all new wiring, for this, there will be a clip for the sensor to fit into, but all of the wiring is missing.
This is a total PTA!

You will need to refer to all of the diagrams from the manual. Yes you can do it, but I wouldn't do it again. Your much better finding a Mirror off ebay with the features you want. There are several HOW to articles on putting one of these in, I did one in mine as well, and this is a MUCH MUCH easier way to go.

Re: Overhead temp. and compass display in SE

i owned a 2001 chevy Z-71 and it had the compass and temp on the rear view mirror. having it on the mirror to me is a lot more convenient than the stock location in the Titan. JMO...id go with the Rear view mirror.
