I from MO and just tinted my front 20%. Most counties and municipalities youll be fine but State will pull you over for this. They just got new testers and need to pay for them. You can get away with a prescription from an M.D. if he'll write it but don't bother with the optomitrist docs. They won't accept it. I was pulled over the other day and told the officer that I knew they were illegal but I didn't care. I like the shade. He was nice enough to let me off with a warning but it's in thier system and probably won't be so lucky next time. 20% is a little dangerous at night. It's hard to see pedestrians but I think it also keeps my Galaxy black cooler during the day. I think the law is b.s. I see cars constantly with darker tint than legal. Maybe someday it will change.

dangit james, you got me all worried about it again. now i'm a little bit reluctant. 2 of my friends (2001 black civic and 2005 white is300) have not had problems yet and they both have 20% with black interiors. i want to get away with it too but with my luck sometimes, i just don't know. i ran int o a lot of problems with cops when i had my prelude but but i've yet to encounter anything in my titan in the 3 weeks that i've owned it. i did have a cop give me a 2nd and 3rd over because the dealer taped my 30 day tag inside the back glass and it's nearly impossible to see. haha. he didn't pull me over to check it.
where in MO do you live?

I did mine in 20, and I'm glad I didn't go lighter. It's a tiny bit lighter than the front, not really noticable unless you know. I just took a picture for you so you could see, and the morning sun is shining through the tint.

in St. Louis area. Now when I see state on the side of the road I just open the windows till i'm passed. Only takes the press of the buttons then right back up they go. If I get pulled over again i'll probably remove the tint and go with the legal.

since it's free, tint all of the windows front, side and back
I'd tint the rear (factory tinted) and front windows with the lightest UV filtering tint available. It will provide better UV protection than the factory glass, and really reduce heat. Tinting the front window may seem counterintuitive, but it will drastically reduce heat. All of my friends in the Inland Empire have their front windows tinted (not darker, just UV protection).
As for the driver/passenger windows, i have 32%, and (knock on wood) the police have not had a problem with it -- any tint on those windows is illegal in CA.
Its Llumar. I was intially worried because it had a reflective look to it the first day it was installed. After it "cured" its just plain black.
I've also heard that there are some issues with the tint marks because there's no felt dust shield to protect the window as it is rolled up and down. Is this a problem that you're having as well, TOK?
well, guys.. i didn't want the back too dark so i actually just tinted the front doors. the guy ran out of 15% like i wanted so i went ahead and did 20%. he said that 20% is the same as the back. he used Sun-Gard tint. the only thing that bothers me is that the tint color is slightly off. the back is more smoke while the front has a greenish tint. it may change after a few days or so. i'll keep you guys updated.
i do like the idea that people can't see in very well and that it keeps the heat out.

going back in to tint 1 of my windows back to 20 and do the entire front windshield but basically clear or slightly tinted.

good work but not as cheap. the door window tint goes all the way to the top edge vs. that gap some tinters do. doing the entire front windshield tomorrow to cool the interior down.
btw I work in NP near fashion island.

I read that thread, and have just been trying to keep the windows clean to keep anything from getting down in there and scratching. I really don't feel like pulling the door panels off to install felt. If this tint gets hosed, I'll do it before the next time. So far no problems, but it's been pretty hot here and I've had the air running a lot. Windows have been up except going to the bank and fast food joint!
