Call me crazy but I put light tint all around so as not to hinder effective communications with my fellow motorists including seeing the smile on my face when I blow by.

I had 20% charcoal done on the front and 18% reflective over the factory in the rear. The front looks dark, the back is very dark, but that's how I wanted it. The only thing I don't like is the color tone change looking from the inside. The front looks brown, the rear looks slightly blue. From the outside both front and rear look black. My tinter insisted that the rear would have better heat rejection with the 18% reflective film. I'll probably make him redo the rear with 20% charcoal, possibly with 8% charcoal. He's using all Llumar product and has for years.

I also had a 50% charcoal done on the windshield. This makes it so that I can live without sunglasses. I risk getting pulled over, but it's a repair order not a ticket.

I will probably add a better set of reverse lights, but for now I'll depend a bit more on the reverse sensors.

I did mine 35% in the front and just left the rears @ the stock 18%. IMO it looks perfect and is legal. I know some people who were pulled over and the cop made him scrape the tint off the window while he watched. Pretty harsh, so I want to stay legal.

I keep a razor scraper in the glove box for that very reason. I'd much rather have a cop make me scrape it off than give me the repair order. If I get pulled over for tint I'm going to have to redo it either way. If he writes the repair order then I have to go find another pig to sign off on it after I strip it.

This may be a dumb question, but how does it work if a state's law says little or no tint all the way around and the factory tint is 18% in the back?

I don't think there's a law for the rear windows. The manufacturer wouldn't tint them due to legal reason. it's the front windows and windshield.

i had the felt installed on the inner portion for $20 bucks more when i had my tint done! its worth it to me and was cheap!! why not? i'm not planning on changing my tint out for anything else anyways!

Where I live, Kansas, if I look up the law for tint, it states 35% front, back, rear. I haven't researched this too far other than looking up this information. I am not that interested in adding addtional tint to my Titan, but am considering adding tint to my wife's Chrysler 300, which came with no factory tint.

AZ is a repair order with no fine. You must remove the tint and have a pig sign off on it. Then you get it redone at the same darkness as before. Around here a pair of front windows is $40.

I have electronic tint:

Wasn't cheap, but you can turn it on & off & adjust the tint level.

Does it go clear when you shut the vehicle off?

if you don't mind me asking, how much was it? how did they do it? did they have to remove your glass and then bake the film onto it? then they just apply a couple of leads to the glass?
