aux plug-in

is there any way that you can plug the aux from the inside of the console and run the wire through the middle under the paneling and into the middle compartment in the se captain chairs? i got an ipod and i'm just trying to make it as clean as possible, so the wiring won't make the center console look all dirty haha it's got to look clean you guys forreal!

in my brother's '00 celica he got the aux wire and just basically plugged it into the ipod.. plays with perfect quality!

You could splice a cable into the AUX from inside by removing the center dash cover (radio bezel) and then run the cable through the center console by unscrewing the gear shift knob & pulling off the shift gate piece. Sammy posted a thread with pictures about hard wiring an MP3 player with a pie amp and the concept would be similar.

I recall that somebody mounted an Ipod on top of the center dash area by running a cable connected interiorly to the AUX jack, and I think a few people have mounted XM receivers in a similar manner.

I have the AUX jack connected on the inside to one channel of an Audio Control Matrix pre-amp located under the passenger side dash.

Yes You Can

I spliced (2) cables into the aux input behind the dash. So I now have the dash input, a cable that runs to the steering column, and one that runs down through the cup holder on the center hump (XE)

devildog, what gauge wire is behind the plug? was it a pain? did you solder?

Inquiring minds want to know, since I'm planning on wiring a sirius setup that way.

No Idea what gauge the wire is. I bought two 5 dollar cables (the type that has the ends that plug into an ipod, aux input, roady, etc..) Chopped off one end and opened it up. I believe there was a red, white, black, all of which were very thin.

Unplugged the connector from the back of the input and chopped the three wires that led into the plug. Then stripped the wires

There was a thread on this site or club titan that told you which wires link up with what, but you can also do via trial and error (just try different combos before you solder or crimp)

Spliced the (2) cables I bought into the input wires behind the dash.

I used the male/female type connectors and then crimped them. Fairly easy.

Sorry for the lack of technical jargon, hope it makes sense
