Cleaning Seats

Was wondering what works well to clean the seats in my 05 SE. They are the cloth seats and they get stained easy. I had a gallon of milk sitting on the passenger seat the other night, and the 'sweat' off of the jug, left a big stain on the seat.

Any suggestions?

thanks

i HATE how easy the seats get dirty. i swear when i first got my truck, everything was pissing me off about my interior when people would stain it on accident. wasnt their fault...just easy to stain. havent used anything yet, but let me know if you find something will ya?

Re: Cleaning Seats

So are there any new ideas/products that can be suggested.

I too have the cloth seats and on a long road trip this weekend I seemed to have spilt some crumbs onto the seat and mow I have a stain, and it must go.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Cleaning Seats

Count me in for the easy stainable seat cloths, i tried some cloth upholstery cleaner, it seemed like it took it off but when it fully dried most of the stain was still there.. .....The drivers side seat upholstery (complete) on my truck got replaced due to some of the plastic cheap stitching coming unloose, perhaps some of you guys have the same problem, take it in and they will replace it for free if still under warranty if not i think they said its about $100.00 per side for new factory seat covers.

Re: Cleaning Seats

Best way I have found and it works wonders... First of all you want to use simple green because it is does not contain any sticky soap which will over time bring the stain right back. Get a bucket and mix some simple green concentrate with water and fill the bucket all the way up. Next you want a large rag like a kitchen towel. Dump the rag in the bucket and squeeze some of the water out but not all of it. (you should still have enough water to squeeze it and make it drip out). Then scrub your seats with the towel, not too hard cause you dont want to fray any fabric. When the towel is losing the water, repeat the same step to get the towel wet. The reason to make sure you are getting the seats a little wet is because you want to evenly coat them with the water. Damp to touch not soaked. This is because our seats get water stains very easy, if you coat them evenly this will not happen. Once you have completed the seats, repeat all the same steps but now with just water and a new towel. This will get any excess residue and all the simple green out. Finish by rubbing the seats down with a dry bath towel, then leave widows down for a couple hours (if the weather is dry of course). I have done this about 10 times and with great results, looks new everytime. I recommend the simple green because it is natural and non toxic. Other cleaners leave a residue that remains tacky and can bring the stains back worse. Kinda like shampooing your carpets with rug doctor stuff. The soap stays in and causes more stains over time. Hope it works as well for you

Re: Cleaning Seats

Thanks Burly, your tip about using Simple Green worked great. Now I'm off to find some Scoth Guard.

Re: Cleaning Seats

try spot shot carpet cleaner or a steam cleaner that you would use in a house they both would work

Re: Cleaning Seats

I've been using it on cars for years, on the Titan for nearly a year, and it's never failed to get out of a stain. It's mild too, so it won't cause any bigger stains on the seats like some of the more abrasive cleaners.

I work in the Health and Safety field and the Simple Green rep came in to show off how safe and non-toxic the soap was, he actually drank a shot of it. Pretty nuts. I would go with this fix, sounds like some work, but the use of a mild soap makes me less nervous with our "tempermental" upholstry.

Re: Cleaning Seats

I'll take a Simple Green and coke please. May clean your insides to a spot free finish. Anyway I like the Oxi Magic stuff too. Both that and the simple green work great. Getting seat covers ina few days so hopefully no more stains for me.
