Motorola IHF1000 H/F Bluetooth Install

Just finsihed installing the Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth handsfree kit. I really like the way it turned out. The lights at night are great and the unit really gives me a lot more flexibility using the phone in traffic. I hid the speaker up under the dash on the drivers side. The unit can sync to up to 4 phones so if my wife takes the truck it switces to he phone automaticly. It annouces any incoming call by name or telephone number so I can decide to answer the call (or not) without even looking at the phone. The speach recognition software works very well. I can dial any number with a simple push of the blue center button.

I installed the Parrot CK3100 bluetooth speaker phone. It has the same features as the Motorola, but also has its own small LCD display. It can be wired directly into the speakers in the truck, but I am using a small external speaker. I did wire in the mute feature so that the stereo mutes when a call comes in. I have been very happy with this unit. The parrot unit costs about $200, and is available online.

I looked at the Parrot but wasn't interested in the display as the whole reason I was getting it was so I could keep my eyes on the road. I paid $189 online... can't remember from who, just search yahoo shopping and it will come up. Avoid buying it from Motorola directly they're $100 more!

Hey dss90c... what connection did you use fro the mute? I searched the web and couldn't find any reference to a mute lead off the stof R/F hu.

Marc, I too just switched from Cingular to Verizon. I travel a lot of remote areas and need a tri-mode phone that would switch to analog when needed and the V710 on Verizon was the best I could find. Could have done without the camera, but hey... what are you gong do?

jscott, I used the amp on wire going from the audio unit to the R/F amp. It's a green wire with a white stripe. I used a relay to make or break this wire. It works just fine for the muting function.

I need to get one of these now. I'm getting the SLVR phone this weekend! It would be great to hook it up to the truck!

Re: Motorola IHF1000 H/F Bluetooth Install

Whomever have the Parrot ones, which phone are you using it with? I was just looking at these last week, and I'm using a Nokia 6230... Want to be sure i'll have no probs with the bluetooth connection.

I know cousin got an X5 with the bimmer bluetooth system and he had to get rid of his 6230 because it didnt pair at all, moved on to a motorola phone, and i really cant stand motorola (just personal opinion)

Re: Motorola IHF1000 H/F Bluetooth Install

Motorola isn't too bad, I have a Black Razor right now and its pretty good. I did prffer Sony Erricson phones (my last 2 were) because they always seemed to have the best options and interface. My only complaint on the Razor is no expansion port for SD cards.

Re: Motorola IHF1000 H/F Bluetooth Install

I have a Motorola E815 that I use with my parrot. If I recall correctly, the latest parrot firmware (4.13c) solved the Nokia issues. Check the parrot forums, they might have some info.

Re: Motorola IHF1000 H/F Bluetooth Install

Awesome, thanks for the quick responses!

dss, where did you mount the lcd? I was thinking about doing it in the compartment near the driver's door... the little change cup thingy.... Would the foot of the LCD display fit in there?

THanks again!

Re: Motorola IHF1000 H/F Bluetooth Install

I don't think it would fit in there all that well. I think the cup is deeper than the foot is tall. Here's what I did:
