Re: has anybody painted their headlight housing?

just wondering whyd u wanna do this? for the looks? also, wouldnt that make ur lights way dimmer and cancel out the reflector effect the headlights are trying to acheive?

This has been done, but I dont recall the member. He actually colored the orange reflectors to a black color if I remember correctly. The "search" is where I would start, until someone else chimes in with more info.

That does sound cool. That way the headlights will match the smoke wheels and oem step bars. Good thinking. I saw something from Duplicolor that could be used. I'm too much of a wuss (sp?) to open my headlights up though....

Re: has anybody painted their headlight housing?

i did it on my subaru wrx. it looks pretty sick =) thats why i wanted to try it on my truck. im pretty sure it will look even sicker! all you have to do is bake it around 250 degrees so that the silicone is goey enough to pull the headlight apart. spray paint. then put it together and if u dont have enough silicone u can buy some and apply it. done and done. i jus wanted to see if im the only one.

Re: has anybody painted their headlight housing?

yup, blacked out the taillights except for the backup, the third brakelight except for the cargo lights, and the headlights. the headlights were a pain to take apart, but i got them done and they look great. i painted all the chrome not essential to reflection of the light and as for the amber i blacked them out also. then to not have any orange look from the front i changed to the sylvania bulbs that dont look orange but when they light up they are amber. boy i bet you all wish that you could see what they look like.......
sorry but you will have to wait till tomorrow so i can post pix.

Re: has anybody painted their headlight housing?

As much as I LOVE black housing headlights, I think they only look good on a few titans, i.e. black ones, and XEs. I think the factory chrome housings look nice on most of the LEs and SEs with the chrome bumpers.
