Problems with door lock/unlock switch

Last week we had some snow/freezing rain here. The day after this event, I went out to the truck and noticed it was unlocked. I really didn't think too much about this - I assumed that I forgot to lock it, even though I am careful to make sure it is always locked. However, when I was driving it, I kept hearing a clocking solenoid type noise that I couldn't identify. Turns out, it was the door locks repeatedly unlocking. What happened (as best as I can guess) is that water had gotten into the door mounted lock/unlock switch on the driver's side and shorted out the contacts. I was able to disassemble it, clean the contacts, and resolve the issue. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this, and if so did you find a permanent fix?

Re: Problems with door lock/unlock switch

My issue wasn't that they were frozen - they just kept unlocking repeatedly.

I think you found the problem and solved it yourself. That's the only thing I don't like about the Titan is where the switch is located. In the morning when dew moisture is still on the truck it always drip into that area.

Humm... I haven't noticed this in my 06.

Did you use something to cover the contacts before you re-installed?

Re: Problems with door lock/unlock switch

Nothing I really could use to keep any water out. I did put a little more dielectric grease on them. I guess it will be a wait and see type of thing.

Re: Problems with door lock/unlock switch

I didn't have the door unlock on me while I left it locked but I did have the clicking sound in the door and since I don't lock the doors when I'm in the vehicle it may have been unlocking. I thought it may have been something to do with my power tailgate lock mod but it has since went away. However, now that you have found the problem I feel it must have been that as it was a rainy day.
