AM signal took a dump...dealer is shrugging it off...

About 4 months ago..i took the truck in since 90% of my AM stations suddenly went static.
They worked perfectly for the 1st year and a half or so..then they stopped.

1st round at the dealer, they swapped the entire radio for a new unit.
SAME PROBLEM

2nd round at the dealer, they replaced some sort of relay and a the wire that goes to the antennae.
SAME PROBLEM

3rd round....another new radio.
SAME PROBLEM

4th round...kept it for a day..then said they need to schedule a Nissan specialist to come look at it. It's been at least 2 months since then.

Any suggestions for next steps?

ewxlt,

My radio did the exact same thing - I had them replace the unit and my AM reception went back to nominal. Sorry that didn't work for you. All I can tell you is to try another new radio - maybe they didn't give you a "new" one after all???

You think? That would be downright mean.

Re: AM signal took a dump...dealer is shrugging it off...

My radio did exactky the same thing . Today they replaced the antena and the lead wire for the antena.
Guess what? Same thing have had three radios so far.
Except for this it is a great truck.
Let me know if they find a fix. I will do the same they claim they are not giving up. But it is frustrating and expensive as my dealer is 90 miles away.

My timeline was this....
1. replace radio
2. replace lead wire and antena
3. replace radio again
4. replace radio

on my 3rd radio and I have AM back again!

seriously...just call Nissan consumer affairs...they get things done!
