Center console on XE???

Has anyone removed the middle seat in thier front bench and installed a console?
I was considering trying to get the parts from the center console on the SE with captains chairs and modding it to fit and placeing more storage where the shifter would have come out.
Any ideas if it would fit, or what part numbers would be needed, or even if someone has done it yet?

I'd like to install one so I have a nice place to hard mount my power inverter among other things.
All i ever use is the armrest, almost never the center seat.

There was a thread on here a long time ago about it. If I remember correctly there is a cup holder under the middle seat on the floor.

Doesnt sound like rocket science. Remove seat, bolt in console.

I priced out all the necessary prices at www.trademotion.com, and came to a total of approximately $700! Insane. There are a ton of different pieces and panels that are all sold separately.

I also recently sent out an inquiry on several used parts/junkyard websites. I did find a place in California that has 2 consoles, one SE and one LE, for $125 (each). I hesitated on purchasing from them 1.) because I requested a picture and never received, and 2.) they tried to tell me that the front bench is 60/40, and that I would need to purchase the captain's chairs as well - he just so happened to have a pair! Right. I know for sure that the front seats are independent of the console, but hey...whatever.

Anyways, I'd be happy to forward you their contact information and email if you would like to purchase the console from them. It's definetely a great deal, and they have a website which seems totally legit.

yeah, $700 is insane, but for $125, thats doable.

Good luck, let me know if you find a good place. Out of 25 yards from across the nation that confirmed they had received my request, only the one single place in Cali had a console. Even Brandywine Auto Parts didn't have one, and I'm sure you know how large they are.
