Broken seat?

I have 2004 two door SE w/ the bench seat and the drivers side seat back is bent about 6" out of square.

Have any of you broken (bent?) the seat back in your bench seat? Nissan said they have never seen this before.

Long rant...
Two months ago I brought it in to have them look at it. They said they had to get approval from Nissan to fix it. A month later I called and asked the status of my "claim". I had to bring the truck in again so they could take pictures of it.

Two weeks ago I called the dealership again (No, they have never called me.) and they said they had approval so I scheduled an appointment.

Last week I dropped the truck of for the replacement seat, turns out they had not ordered the parts and have been waiting for them to come in.

Oh while the truck is in they are also fixing three other things under warranty. This will add up to seven warranty fixes in a little over 14 months of ownership. The other major repair was replacing the rear window after it leaked and the water stained the rear seats. They replaced the window and "cleaned" the seats but did not replace them as they should have.

Needless to say, I'm not real happy with the dealership or the truck. This is my third and probably last Nissan product, I'm sorry to say. If I wanted these types of problems I would have bought a Chevy/Ford/Dodge.

Re: Broken seat?

The only time I have seen a bent seat is when we order one in. They must put them at the bottom of the load because everytime we open the box the frame is bent soo bad we can't use it and have to order a new seat. So, I have seen these seats bend but not while they were in the vehicle.

Re: Broken seat?

TitanTech659,

One question, why are you ordering replacement seats? Is that to replace broken ones?

The loaner the dealership gave me yesterday seems to have the same problem. Looks to me like another bad design.

Re: Broken seat?

We are replacing seat frames for squeak noises as per Tech Line.

Re: Broken seat?

Good question, I'm 6' tall and 215 lbs. Not overweight for my frame and upper body strength. Ok, I could stand to loose 15 lbs.

Re: Broken seat?

I have removed the seats in my king cab to do an audio install the frame for the seat is pretty stout, i remember having it out and putting quite a load on only 3 of the four legs (the other was raised off of the groundd) and not a bend or flex, perhaps you have sum bad metal or something, cant be the design the brake judder is a design flaw, this is just fluke

Re: Broken seat?

I'm not so sure it is a fluke. The '06 loaner looks to have the same problem.

Either way, I'm getting pissed about this POS truck. This looks like it will be my third and last Nissan. Just need to wait until the timing is right to dump it. This is a bummer as I like to keep my vehicles a long time before replacing them. My '93 hard body lasted 11 years and 235K miles before I sold it and it is still running strong.

And guess what will happen when you go back to Chevy/Ford/Dodge?!?

You'll have an underpowered, falling apart, truck backed by a bankrupt company. Have fun with that. Let us know how it goes.
