Perfect timing, too, since I just got my ScanGauge and was trying to figure out how to get it up there. Now I know there is enough clearance. I pulled off the radio faceplate but haven't figured out the top part -- how did you get it off? Looks like you had to cut it loose.
very nice and clean install...explain to me how the heck u got that center peice off...I can get the radio bezel off (lol) but the whole center??? screws? clips??

I was able to get the center piece off with out removing the whole thing. The center piece is GLUED to the housing put I pried it off. After the install I used epoxy glue to glue it back on.

Baseball,
How did you pry off the top piece without damaging the part ? Did you get it off without taking the radio bezel cover off ? Nice Job, I have mine sitting in that same spot, but mounted with two-sided tape. I could not get the top cover to move at all and I was afraid to damage it by prying.

Radio bezel have to be remove, the radio itself can stay. Using a small flat blade, I pried the two tabs (see picture) loose. After that just pull up slowly and it came apart. I used epoxy to glue it back once done.

Never mind, I found it. Sucks too, as I had brought that idea to a patent office about 3 years ago. I contacted Autoxray (I have one) and tried to get them to listen to my idea. They never got back to me..... You need a working protype to patent I was told. I can think of stuff like that, I just don't have the friggin resources to get a protype...
Laugh all you want to, but a few people know that I had the idea for the TIVO 4 -5 years before it actually came out. Again, no working protype. Now look...I refuse to buy one because of that....

Negatory on the working prototype requirement. What is required is filing of an application with a disclosure sufficient to enable one of ordinary skill in the art to practice the invention. 35 U.S.C. 112. In the case of electrical & software inventions, this frequently takes the form of flow charts & block diagrams. The general nature of the level of disclosure required in a particular field of invention can be evaluated by conducting an online search at www.uspto.gov.
