Racing Seats for 04 Titan

I'm thinking about getting some racing seats for my 04 Titan XE. Does anyone know where or even if they make racing seats that will fit in the Titan. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

No company is making direct-fit brackets right now, so you're going to have to drill some holes in your floor or do some fab work. And considering how wide the Titan's stock seats are, you should be able to fit just about anything.

Do you want road raxing seats or off road racing suspension seats? Either one will probably take a little fab work for a braket.

Some brands

BEard
Mastercraft
Racecraft
PRP
Sparco

Make sure you do not run a harness if you dont have a cage.

Re: Racing Seats for 04 Titan

There are a few different ways that you can do this. When I was building my frames I tried to start from scratch and I was going to drill all new mounting holes and make some real flash mounts/brackets. Then I decided to be smart about it and disected the factory brackets. Here is where it gets tricky. If you choose this route, YOU WILL NEVER GO BACK TO STOCK, without buying all new seats and frames. But, you will have seats that mount in perfectly every single time, and you don't need to drill any extra holes. You literally need to cut the old frames and seats apart down the middle of the tracks. Then once you have properly cleaned up all the loose ends and popped out the rivets that you'll see during the process select the type of material you want to use to tie them all together. I went with 1 inch square tubing. The tubing actually fits perfectly between the slots in the brackets. Then weld support braces from one side to the other, keeping in mind that this is probably going to be the area that you mount to. The whole process took me about two days. The rear seats on the crew cabs are the most interesting but also the easiest.

Hey Kyle,

Are your race seats the "four tab" type, or do they have flat plates along the bottom? Did you start off with the SE buckets, or the XE bench? I haven't looked too close at the stock seats yet. Are the seats and brackets fully integrated so that you'd have to cut the seats in half to get the frames?

TIA,

- Jon

Re: Racing Seats for 04 Titan

Jon,

I started off with the bench seats. The seats and seat frames are all integrated and can be dismantled very carefully. Or with a grinder like I did haha. but I don't think they can be taken apart in such a way that would allow them to go back to stock. I used a seat by Street Scene that has the two sliding mounts/brackets attached to the bottom.

Like I said, depending on how you wanted to go about it, you could very carefully disassemble the stock frames/brackets and probably make it capable for them to go back to stock but it would be very time consuming and very difficult. I didn't bother with this method, I just went straight ahead and started cutting. The main thing I noticed is that there is a lot of support structure built into the factory seat that you would be removing. Once I noticed this I realized it would be safer and easier to just use the legs/floormounts and fabricate the rest.

Re: Racing Seats for 04 Titan

For the seat itself, one of the safest seats money can buy is the Recaro. They sure cost more than what you can get from PepBoys or on E-Bay, but they are built on pans rather than space frames. This doesn't matter for daily driving, but it does matter if you are in a crash. Recaro has been used by a number of OEMs.
