auto-locks

Most vehicles in the last 8 - 10 years have come with the 'anti-carjacking' locks. For example, you get up to 15/20mph and *click* the doors lock.

I used to find this quite an annoyance, but now that I don't have it - I miss it.

Perhaps with a pregnant wife, I'm over hyping the safety, but the FBI did just list Memphis as #2 in the nation in violent crime.

On to the question - any of you electrical tinkerers want to ponder on the possibility?

Has anyone done it?

Also, why the hell would Nissan not include this feature?

Re: auto-locks

www.kptechnologies.com have a module that lock the doors 6 sec. after you start it. What I don't like is it also unlock the doors when you turn off ign.

Re: auto-locks

most of the aftermarket alarms use auto lock when the ignition is turned on but hardwiring some type of relay configuration to lock at a certain speed sounds kind if complicated, but not impossible.

Re: auto-locks

do a search for the omega systems at caralarm.com, these are the only alarms ive used on all the cars my wife and i have owened. theyre easy to install and offer a unique carjacking feature that you can tailor to your needs.

Re: auto-locks

Add Auto LocAdd Auto Lock without an Alarm or Keyless Entry System
You can easily add the convenience of auto lock to any vehicle equipped with power locks without adding a keyless entry or alarm ( or if the one you have does not have this feature). Please notice the relay on the left. This is an inhibit to prevent the doors from locking the customer out of his vehicle. When the key is turned to the "ignition on" position, the doors will only lock automatically if the doors are closed. If the vehicle has a positive door trigger, change terminal #85 of the left relay to ground and connect the door trigger to #86 as shown. For auto unlock, see next. For more info, click here.

Like above, you can add auto unlock to any vehicle equipped with power locks. Just connect the output of this circuit to the vehicle's door lock circuit using the appropriate application. more info.

Re: auto-locks

I liked this feature in my old f150 too. But, how come on the 06's when the doors are already locked, you just cant pull on the handle and open the door?? You have to physically unlock the doors before the handle will work... On mu old 04 all you had to do was pull the door handle and it would unlock it for you. Why would they do such a change from year to year? If anything, this makes my new Titan less safe than my old one. Especially in an emergency situation when you need to get out of the truck quickly and your brain aint thinkin "unlock the door dummy."

Re: auto-locks

I've sat there and watched my girl damn near rip the door handle off when she trys to get out before I turn off the engine. I quickly reach for the unlock switch and just cringe as she does it again. The thing is less than a month old and she is already taking her jelousy out on it.

Can someone explain this diagram to someone who knows nothing about these wiring diagrams...I'd like to do that, but those diagrams mean nothing to me. Thanks,
