Keyless entry

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but, I am gonna ask anyway )

I purchased my Titan (2004) used, it has 21,000 miles on it, and is in excellent condition...but more to the point...I recieved a keyless entry fob with it when I purchased it, and it was trashed, i purchased 2 new ones, but they just do not work. I have the programming instructions (anyone want them, holler at me) and ran through the procedure, but they still do not work. I purchased them used. Is there any way to tell for sure that my truck actually has a keyless entry system installed?

Re: Keyless entry

there has been some debate about that issue.
some say you have it if you have pwr win/locks, and some say if you have pwr and tire pressure sensors.

I asked for clarification before and never really got any, but i would think if you have pwr win/lock and tps then your truck would be wired for the keyfob.

Re: Keyless entry

That is the thing...I am not sure if I have the TPS or not. I do have power door locks and windows, but not power mirrors. The truck is a bit odd. It came with a power sliding back window, towing package, but does not have power or extended mirrors, and it came with the 6 disc changer with the SAT button (built in satellite connectivity) I just installed the Nissan XM radio reciever, that was a breeze!! It is just an Odd duck, so is kinda hard to figure out what is on it!!

Re: Keyless entry

Look at your valve stems, is it rubber or metal looking. Metal looking than you have TPS, rubber valve stems than no TPS. Look to me you might have a non big tow with a hitch added to it. Do you have the tranny gauge temp. in the middle of your cluster gauge?

Re: Keyless entry

No tranny temp gauge. I do have the Metal valve stems tho. Is that an authoritative answer to whether or not I have keyless entry, or does it just confirm that I have the tps? I have a button in the lower middle of my console which switches it to "Tow Mode" and I have the under bumper receiver type hitch.

Thanks for the info by the way.

The TPS and keyless entry system use the same signal receiver, I'm almost positive you have keyless entry. Also I guess you don't have the tow package, all titan have the Tow Mode button.

Re: Keyless entry

Well...I guess I can confirm that having the TPS equals having keyless entry...at least my Titan has both ) I bought some keyless remotes from ebay, and programed them using the directions from Nissan and it works like a charm. Not sure if it would be proper to list the directions here, but if anyone needs them, PM me and I will either email them to you, or post them here.

Thanks for following along with me on this, I appreciate the help.

Re: Keyless entry

Re: Keyless entry

Well, that makes me feel a little better! One reason I generally do not like buying used vehicles is that it is a crap shoot as to whether or not you will be able to determine all the functions that came from the factory. This truck was just a really good deal, and I have been wanting a Titan since they first came out. I suffered through driving a Chevy Malibu for 6 years to save my pennies to buy this beauty!!! I know you all feel my pain now )

Re: Keyless entry

I am going to clear this up once and for all, just because you have power windows and power door locks AND tire pressure sensors does not mean you automatically have keyless entry and just need to add receiver. I am a prime example of this, after suspecting the same thing I took my 06 Titan XE CC with power windows, door locks, and tire pressure sensor, to the Nissan Dealership and had them try to program and intergrate a key pad I had bought from the dealership, they told me I do not have that ability and that it just becuase you have power windows locks and TPS does not mean you have that available.

Why don't you try it yourself, the dealers sometimes are idiots.
Some times it takes more than the 7 inserting/removing keys before the confirmation is given (same thing with a guy at the Armada site, he could'nt get his to program till I told him to do more than 7 times, he got it done and reported 11 time with the key before if confirm). The power dl and tps use the same receiving module, so if you have tps you do have keyless entry ability.
