Swapping Rear View Mirrors

The factory rear view mirror in my 05 XE is lame. It has no features, and I would really like to have a built in garage remote.

I'm thinking about buying this mirror to replace my stock 05 mirror.

What modifications are necessary? What about the wiring?

I'm interested too. My GF was just talking about how she wants to get a mirror like this for the truck.

Re: Swapping Rear View Mirrors

I installed one of these mirrors on the Frontier I was driving last year. It is really quite simple: Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to release the clip holding the stock mirror, then attach the new one. There is a cable harness that plugs into the mirror, it can be placed under the headliner and routed to the pillar by the windshield on the drivers side. continue the cable down the pillar (behind the plastic trim) and underneath the dash. Part of the cable is wiring for the temp sensor which needs to be routed into the engine compartment and position the temp sensor in front of the radiator. The other wiring can be connected under the dash, you need ground, switched battery and constant battery. You probably need to consult a wiring diagram to find a convenient source for the two power connections, you can ground under most any screw that goes into the chassis.
